Mission: 907VETS Inc mission is to assist people who are serving or have served in the United States military, and family members. Our goals are to combat suicide, depression and loneliness by building camaraderie through drug and alcohol free activities, advocating for individual benefits, and guiding veterans and family members to local and national resources. We strive to bridge gaps between civilian and military sectors through education and outreach.

Results: In the short 7 month period since establishing our organization we have: Most recently donated and reached out to other nonprofit organizations to provide funds for a veteran needing travel funds for medical treatment and found grant resources for another Veteran needing dental care; designed and built a handicap ramp. Made contact with a newly enlisted soldier providing our contact info, some basic guidance and requested they keep in contact so we can provide ongoing support to him and his family. Ongoing we have enrolled veterans for VA healthcare and service connection, and assisted veterans suffering PTSD, depression and loneliness. We assisted with moving heavy objects furniture & appliances for veterans & family members, did small house remodels for safety issues, and in response to the COVID-19 pandemic put kits containing masks & hand wash together and dispersed to Veterans and family members. Met with Homer Suicide Awareness & Prevention staff to discuss working together for events. Heard via a Zoom meeting about a BUDDY UP project proposal and the request to partner with 907VETS from VA Rural Health employee. Prior to the pandemic outbreak members put together a Valentines gathering for Veterans and family members . Supported a Veteran art & painting event and exhibit. Currently we are registered to attend & present 907VETS at the October 2020 Alaska Coalition for Veterans and Military Families [ACVMH]. Every step of the way we have reached out to other nonprofits with a like mission in an effort to partner in one way or another. We have successfully reached out to local businesses and private individuals to support our efforts. The response to our mission and the work we are doing has been inspiring.
