Almost too easy. I didn't use a hammer or mallet for this. Instead I used a clamp and as I slowly tightened the clamp against the wedges the chuck simply dropped into a small box filled with rags to cushion the fall. Made me feel like I cheated or something. This worked so well I wanted to do it again..

This worked for removing a drill press chuck with JT33 taper (Jacobs). I mounted the old one with red loctite (too string, never again). A little heat and the correct wedges did the job.

I don't have much to say, except they removed my chuck from the adapter just fine. Well made.

I had a chuck that I wanted to move from an R-8 arbor to a TTS arbor. These worked perfectly and quickly.

I see the poor reviews for this product, but from what I can gather in their reviews they are trying to slip one of these wedges over a groove they see on their chuck shaft and then pry with them. You do not use these wedges to pry anything and the groove you are seeing on the shaft is not where these fit.You take each of the wedges and drive them from opposite sides TOGETHER. They should form an even surface between the chuck and the drill press. You are using these wedges as a pair to form an even lift. Tapping them TOGETHER from each side will spread them farther apart and release the chuck easily from the shaft. There is is no prying going on. You are not trying to slip them on the shaft slot in the center.

Best way to remove a chuck properly from a tapered shaft. Pickle forks are often too thick. Two small hammers or some large channellocks and these wedges will pop off a chuck easily and without strain on bearings. These are good steel with a glossy black oxide finish. Correct size for a JT33 and some others. If you're ever in doubt, look up a taper dimension chart (Travers Tool and several other online hosts for this). Genuine Jacobs, part 13269 (ordered from ATK Industrial).Quick measurements:Overall width: 1.257Overall length: 2.004Inside width: 0.740Inside length to bottom of arc: 1.502Base thickness: 0.167Tip thickness: /- 0.060
