For the price you cannot beat this tent. The quality is amazing and it does hold up to the wind and cold weather. Just recently used it on a camp My trip where it was 15 degrees or less and my wife and I never once got cold.

Took this tent out for a test in the White Mountains during the mid fall time frame. The forecast was for rain then possible snow. The tent set up took less that 20 minutes. Only complaint about setup are the pole sleeves and that when setting up the fly, the wind can catch the fly so it's difficult to set this up alone when windy without damaging the tent. (also make sure to stake the tent down before attempting to erect it.) During the night it rained 3 inches with incredible downpours then changed to snow. Weatherman says 3 inches during the night and 2 inches of snow. I stayed completely dry even with one of the vents open. Wind was also blowing 40. The tent did an awesome job. Snow did blow up under the vestibule but I could have prevented that if there was more snow to work with. I brought along a camp chair and was able to hang out in the forward vestibule sitting in the chair with the top of the opening cracked to see out! Tons of room under that. The rear vestibule was fine for my pack. Could have handled many more. The tent lets in good light was something else I noticed. Head room is also a real plus during that storm. I did not have to kneel all the time. This tent was my mansion in the woods. Pack weight with a floor-saver and stakes is 10.6 pounds on my digital kitchen scale. It's bulky so I took my 80L pack that trip. Worth the weight to have that luxury out there. Loads of room everywhere.

I've taken this on a few Cub Scout camping trips with my son, including one in which the temperature dropped below freezing. I like that the rain fly sits far enough from the tent that it doesn't touch--there was no condensation on the tent in the morning after a cold evening. The large vestibules are nice, especially when you have equipment to store. The poles for the rain fly are difficult to deal with, but based on the reviews here, I practiced with them before the first camp and was able to work with them in the dark. I find that anchoring the far end of the pole into the ground and pre-bending it into an arc-shape as I work it through the fly allows me to set up quickly and without the annoying separation phenomenon that many here have mentioned. All-in-all, I am happy with the purchase. It allows us to enjoy camping in both the rain and the cold, and the set up (aside from the fly) is simple enough to allow my son to help.

10/20/2016 Update (original review below): We used this tent for 2 nights at Olympic National Park through a pacific coast hurricane. While the winds were mostly buffered by the trees at our campsite, we experienced non-stop torrential downpours for both days and nights. This tent far exceeded my expectations, and kept us dry at all times--Even with the topside rainfly vents wide open! Even better: The ventilation was still good enough to keep condensation off the inner tent walls even though we experienced 100 humidity. In all honesty, this tent outperformed our much more expensive MSR tent through the rain. I'll still keep the 4-star rating, while it performed well throughout the rain and wind, the complexity of the rainfly poles and the bag they make you pack the tent in are just barely large enough. Add a wet tent, and it makes disassembly and packing more difficult than it needs to be. ----------------------------- Pros: Large front and rear vestibules offer plenty of space Reasonably high quality materials (Would've liked to see ripstop fabric, but the price point is good enough to overlook this) Vents can be opened for closed from the inside of the tent, including the rainfly vents Comes with nice Y-stakes. Comes with enough guy line for all major points of reenforcement. Cons: The rainfly is unnecessarily cumbersome to pitch. You must thread the poles underneath the rainfly first, then install the rainfly. In theory, this sounds like it's not the end of the world, but if you had to pitch this tent in high winds, or in the rain, I can assure you, this factor will be a MAJOR thorn in your side. Since the poles are pre-bent, this adds an additional factor to the complexity of the tent. I feel as though the pole structure isn't strong enough for really strong winds. It definitely could've used some diagonal poles that stretch from corner to corner cross-wise, as the large sides between the poles catch the wind a little too well, and bow in a little too much. HOWEVER, if you properly guy this tent out with the included lines, the structure is immensely improved. I added 4 extra guyout points along the bottom of the tent (between the poles) to add to the structural rigidity (there are pre-sewn loops for this). You'll need to provide your own cord to do this though. Overall thoughts: Would I take this tent out to the most extreme conditions? Probably not. But if you can get this tent for less than $300, and you're in the market for a 4-season tent to experiment in winter camping, I'd certainly recommend this. Alps Mountaineering: If you're reading this; If you could change the design to add more poles to make a geodesic-like structure, fix the cumbersome rainfly, and give the tent rip-stop materials while keeping the price at or below the $300 mark, you'd have a seriously bomber tent on your hands.

Ive used the tent a few times now. I can say im largely happy with it. Based in expectations, it received 4 stars, but i dont know anything in the modern world would receive 5 stars. Yes, its made in foreign lands, as is everything else made by 34;more reputable 34; companies, and made very adeptly. Seams are well made and even, and the fabric is of decent quality. I am impressed with the design. Cavernous vestibules, though its hard to stand up directly out of the tent while one fiddles awkwardly with their shoes. You have to duck first. The venting worked fantastically in humid nights and i stayed dry in the rain, great design accessible from the interior. Ample headroom, though side to side leaves the 3 person rating seem a bit of a snuggle in warm weather. In the 4th season, which I haven't the joy yet, snug is life giving. 2nd setup was at night, with no headlamp. It went up smoothly. Its slightly asymmetrical, so put the writing up front, tent and fly. Nice. The rainfly weighs as much as the tent and poles. I eat pick things up. If youre all about the ultralight, sleep in your backpack instead of whining about the tent. Zippers arent snaggy in the least bit. Which is more than i can say about some of our uber expensive 34;outdoor34; clothing manufacturers. The floor of the tent, as stated prior isnt the heaviest fabric ive encountered. I hear the footprint is hard to find, if it exists at all. Some scissors and your choice of typical diy camper fabrics solves your problems, if you're helpless, im sorry, buy an msr tent and the footprint that costs as much as this whole tent did. Theres pockets running the circumference inside. Nice. A queen mattress fits inside with a little room on the sides a ton of room front to back. Nice...if thats how your 34;other34; rolls...to me, thats to give a idea of size. Rainfly isnt kissing the ground. Cool, the bathtub floor is waterproof. Is a hair loose though, no boiiiiinng. Not in love with the door when the outside of the tent is soaked, but a $700 tent has the same problem. Good luck. The ends of the tent poles can come loose, either pay attention when removing them or tap the end of the tubing with a nailset solve your issues. No matter what, you cant lose them anyways. The stakes that come with the tent worked great in several soils, pull out easily by holding an extra stake perpendicular in the notches provided. I like them. Theres no good reason to knock them, 'cept you just wanna complain. I stayed cool enough in burning heat (fly open) and warm enough on a chilly fall night. All in all im highly impressed. Especially for the money. It rivals most, and surpasses some stupid expensive tents. Jolly good show that seems, so far, well worth my money.

Versatile for the money. Took this tent to the Australian outback for 2 weeks. We travelled daily setting up rough camp most nights. The tent was easy to assemble and fairly idiot proof. My only issue with assembly is the rainfly. It took longer to put on the rainfly than to assemble the tent. I did not put the rainfly on the first night and a heavy dew left me pretty wet in the morning. Not much resistance from the tent. I used the rainfly each night after that and had no problems. You can actually ventilate better with the rainfly on, leaving the doors partially unzipped and the top open. No side windows or vents in this tent. One side of the rainfly is tall and rounded like the tent and makes for a nice 34;front porch34; effect to take on/off shoes and things prior to going out or coming in from the rain. The inside is spacious enough to hold all gear with cot for sleeping and tall enough at 5'1034; tall to stand inside and change clothes. Packs well into small bag. Also would recommend the ground cover. Very pleased with my purchase and would recommend to others.
