Mission: AMVETS National Service Foundation provides Veterans, Donors, Advocates, & Volunteers the organization they require to ensure Veterans and their dependents are provided counsel and are represented before the Veterans Administration (VA) without charge every day.

Results:
•Americanism Program: Promotes national pride and patriotism by distributing American flags, pins and etiquette books to schools, civic groups and community organizations.
•Department of Veterans Affairs Voluntary Service (VAVS): Over 2,350 VAVS volunteers provide ongoing care and attention to hospitalized and disabled veterans and contributed 172,489 volunteer hours of service at nearly 200 VA medical centers throughout the United States.
•National Carillon Program: Established memorial carillons in VA cemeteries, presidential libraries, and historic sites honoring those who fought to preserve freedom.
•National Scholarship Program: Provides college opportunities for high school graduates who cannot afford ever-escalating tuition cost. These scholarships are available to sons and daughters of America veterans as well as former members of the Armed Forces, provided they have exhausted government financial aid. Four-year scholarships for $4,000 for high school seniors, one year $1,000 scholarships for JROTC students and four-year $4000 for veterans are offered. Over $40,000 dollars awarded in Scholarships per year.
•National Service Officer (NSO) Program: One of the major services provided by the AMVETS National Service Foundation is our corps of National Service Officers (NSO) located in VA regional offices and on military bases throughout the United States. Daily our NSOs assist veterans and their dependents in obtaining all benefits they are entitled to under the current law for their service-connected disabilities. These include claims for service-connected disability compensation, non-service connected pension claims, death benefits for surviving family members and educational benefits. These services are provided free of charge. Last year AMVETS NSOs have contacted over 79,352 Veterans regarding claims, including 5,646 men and women in the TAP/DTAP Programs. Our NSO's have recovered $450,774,714 for claimants with an additional $206,732,478 Million in Retroactive Benefits. This is a grand Total of $657,507,192 Million in VA Benefits awarded to the Veterans and families we represent daily. The Veterans Administration provides us a report that shows the value of all running awards for claims represented by AMVETS was $1,632,168,693 for fiscal year 2016 Additionally, last calendar year, our NSOs assisted over 8,732 National Guard/Reserve Veterans and family members that was in transition. .
