Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Animal Guardians Horse Rescue Inc. serves as a rescue, rehabilitation, retraining, rehoming & retirement equine sanctuary for unwanted, homeless, abused, abandoned, & impounded equines. Many of our horses are seniors and horses with special needs. We serve as a member of the HSUS Safe Stalls Network Program, The Homes For Horses Coalition, & ASPCA Horse Action Team. We are a Parelli Foundation Natural Horsemanship Education Grant Recipient. We participate in the HSUS Forever Foundation Natural Horsemanship Training Program. We are developing a program to offer Horse Powered Reading Experiential Learning to youth in our community to promote literacy through interactions with our horses. We serve the community through educational outreach & adoptions promotions for the Ventura and Los Angeles County Animal Services Agencies. Our long-term goal is to become an accredited equine retirement sanctuary with the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries.

Results: Over the past 12 years, we have rescued 80 equines; 90% on euthanasia deadline in the county shelter programs. We serve as an Adoptions Partner with the Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, & San Berndadino, County Departments of Animal Services and Animal Care & Control. We have built our organization up to be one with the greatest professionalism and reputation in Southern CA. We are well trusted, respected, and collaborative with others in the Safe Stalls Network. We are very proud of our accomplishments and the difference we make in our community.
