I bought this for my 10 gal tank because we're developing some brown algae. I have a hang-on-the-back filter, the kind where you can put some matrix media and a sponge filter in it so you can mix and match your filtration methods. The filter is big enough to handle a 30 gal tank. Unfortunately, this product is a not a suitable size for a filter like that. This product comes in a bag about the size of a sandwich baggie so it doesn't really fit into a smaller filter. I had to rig it up to make it work, but it looked very dumb. It may just be that I'm a naive aquarium owner and didn't realize how big this product is, but I didn't feel like the description did it justice. That being said. It DID work, it's just not a permanent solution for a tank of my size.

When I tell you this cleared up the water in my tank in a matter of 2 hours, I mean it was crystal clear. I wish I had taken before and after pics because my water was brown with tannins and in 2 hours, clear as a bell. The ONE downside is I have a small tank which means small filter, the bag this product came in was the size of my face lol. I put the oversized bag in there and took out the regular filter until I could get my own bag and loose activated carbon. If you have a filter for a 30-50 gallon it would probably be the right fit but not for a 10 gallonAll that being said, I will 100 but this product again. I'm still amazed by how fast it worked

I added several pieces of large driftwood to my already set up tank and they leached a lot of tannins so the water was pretty murky. This cleared it up within 24 hours.

Works good. Removes the bad stuff in the tank. And is rechargable in aquarium salt

I was getting very frustrated with my fresh water tank, due to the driftwood I put in for my pleco. Even though I had boiled the driftwood numerous times, the water was always a weak tea-color, not very visually appealing. Watched a few you tube videos on this subject, and one person suggested this filter pack to remove the color in the water. This filter medium works! I saw a noticeable difference within a couple of hours, and within a day, the water is back to crystal clear.Highly recommend.

I had been struggling with bacterial bloom since setting up my new tank. The ammonia/nitrates in the tank as a result nearly killed my betta. I picked this up, immediately got it into the filter, and 24 hours later the tank is almost completely clear (see before after photos) and, my betta is no longer laying on the gravel sideways. No water changes. No stress. No mess. Just a simple easy way to clear up your tank and save your fish!

I've read a lot of the reviews on this that it killed their fish, which is ludicrous!! I run this in my 40 gal offspring tank I have 40 fish in here that are 1 week old the drift wood I have leaks tannins like it's their job and this product keeps it clear as can be!

I had a nitrate spike of 160 for at least a week, despite 0 ammonia and nitrites. I couldn't bring nitrates down at all even with 90 water change over a few days. This stuff isn't stocked in stores so I bought and cut up nitrate absorbing filter pads but they did nothing. My neocaridina are berried for the first time and I was so afraid the shrimplets would hatch and not survive! This NitraZorb arrived at night and I stuck it in a canister filter right away. By the next morning the nitrates we're cut in half, and at the 24 hour mark were down to somewhere between 20-40!! Now, 36 hours later, it's between 10-20. Although I had only rinsed it lightly in the sink, there was no cloudiness. I did put it on top of a polishing filter in the canister, so perhaps that trapped any particles. I can't recommend this enough for anyone having a nitrate spike! I won't be adding this as a permanent filter because I'm afraid it would kill off all the nitrifying bacteria by removing all the ammonia. But I only use the canister to vacuum the gravel, so will probably run it over night with the NitraZorb every time I do a gravel vac (which clearly hasn't been frequently enough lately!)
