I have heard that there are superior brands of test kits out there, but I have not had any issues with any of my API tests, and they are more compact in terms of table space needed than some other brands that use larger sample cups and large color charts,

I tested aquarium water and got a PO43- content around 2.5 ppm which was very high. To find a source of phosphate, I analyzed the tap and filtered waters at home. The results were the same high - dark blue-grey color. Something was wrong... To confirm that these test solutions do not work, I tested purified water in the chemical lab and the result was the same incorrect - more than 2 ppm of phosphate what was impossible to have in the purified water (filtered RO UV treated). Contacted API to get explanations, still waiting... Some people faced the same issue.

I purchased this as my first kit since I suspected my level was high. Once I get it lower I will switch to Salifert though for a more accurate reading.

I ordered both the Phosphate and PH test kits separately. The phosphate kit arrived first, but unfortunately, the tube broke. I waited a few days for the PH kit to arrive and used that tube to run the tests. In the meantime, I emailed API. They responded the very same day. I just needed to send them the lot on the box and they wrote to say they would send a replacement tube. Well, they sent 4 tubes that arrived today. I see a lot of people complaining about the tubes, but tubes break. The company is very responsive and takes responsibility. What more could you ask for. I'll be springing for the master test kit in the near future.
