Mission: Acadia Center is a non-profit, research and advocacy organization committed to advancing the clean energy future. Acadia Center is at the forefront of efforts to build clean, low carbon and consumer friendly economies. Acadia Center’s approach is characterized by reliable information, comprehensive advocacy and problem solving through innovation and collaboration. Acadia Center is the new name of Environment Northeast (ENE). Although the name and logo have changed, the staff, programs and commitment to results continues unchanged. Over the past 15 years, Environment Northeast (ENE) has built a successful track record of providing solutions to advance state and regional efforts to promote effective clean energy and climate policy. The new Acadia Center brand more accurately reflects the organization’s geographic scope and evolving approach.

Target demographics: Achieve a clean energy economy. Acadia Center’s overarching focus is developing a clean energy economy that offers real world solutions to the climate crisis.

Geographic areas served: We work at the state and regional levels on targeted initiatives and model practices with national significance.

Programs:
PRIORITIES: Acadia Center works across key sectors of the economy, in state, local, regional and national jurisdictions to promote effective solutions to tackle the problem of climate change. The principles that guide these efforts are consistent and reflect shared needs and goals.

SECTORS: Acadia Center works at the intersections of energy and climate change: power generation and consumer-side energy resources; transportation; land use; and carbon emissions reductions and mitigation.

ACTIVITIES:Acadia Center tackles challenges from many angles, with strategies and expertise that reach across disciplines. This approach reflects the complexity of the issues and leverages a range of networks and skillsets.

REGIONS:Acadia Center works to build clean, competitive, environmentally sustainable economies across North America. Especially at the state and regional levels, Acadia Center has designed solutions that overcame gridlock and got traction. These solutions are models that can be scaled up and carried to new jurisdictions.

INITIATIVES:Initiatives are categories that encompass all of Acadia Center's work. Initiatives cut across sectors and jurisdictions. Initiatives include: Clean Energy, Energy Efficiency, Energy Grid, Transportation, and Acadia’s Climate and Energy Analysis (CLEAN) Center.
