Always great to have a topo map while out in the woods. I lead adventure hikes every two weeks within 90 miles of NYC, and once or twice a year to exotic locations and national parks. From the experience of a outdoor adventure leader I can comfortably say that if you go into the mountains and forests without a map you are asking for trouble. My hikes are between 6-10 miles, have elevation gains from 200' to as high as 5,000' single elevation gain and the terrain is pretty demanding.. so from my perspective a having an accurate map (my preference is topo) and compass is an essential part of hiking, if you are doing more than two miles. This map pretty much was accurate although there were a few items (such as parking lots and some car access ways into park that may need to be added or updated. Hike Strong!
