I purchased this product for the purpose of hitting accurate fly balls. It did not disappoint. I can control the accuracy and height of fly balls with the Accubat much easier than with a baseball bat. However,it does take a few reps to get the feel for it. Even though the company claims it can be used for ground balls. I prefer to use a regular bat for grounders. I think you can control the speed and the type of hop you want to work on with a bat much easier. I gave it five stars because I purchased it for fly balls not grounders.

Hit fly balls confidently. I use it with my 8 year old son. Hit short or high pop ups and even deep fly balls.

The Accubat has exceeded my expectations. It has allowed me to have much more productive fielding session with my players. The ability to hit controlled pop flys, ground balls, and line drives has made practice sessions much more impactful. The Accubat has saved my arm.I highly recommend the Accubat for any baseball coach or parent who wants to help their kids improve.

Who ever invented the Accubat should win a Nobel prize!OK, so maybe that is a bit of a stretch, but this black beauty is a must own whether you are a baseball coach or enjoy working on skills with your kids in the yard. It allows you to consistently hit pop-ups and grounders to kids in the field. Yes, it takes a few times to master, but once you learn how to use it will dramatically increase the quality of your practices. The Accubat is very well built. We have owned it for several years and despite being thrown in gear bags, bat bags, dropped into the ball bucket, tossed onto the infield dirt, etc. it still works like a charm. My only (minor) complaint is with the grip. The black sponge material does make it easy on the hands but be prepared for your hand to be stained by it. Nothing that a little soap and water won't clean up, but a bit annoying.TIP - This has been said before and is included on the Accubat cover, but proper technique requires the ball to be dropped, NOT tossed into the air, before the ball is struck. You can't use the same toss and hit approach that is done with an actual bat. Doing so will produce bad results including hits off the plastic frame, loss of distance, poor direction, etc. Just hold the ball out, at slightly lower than shoulder level and DROP the ball. Do this and you will be amazed at how much better you can control direction and distance.

As promised. The only drawback that I personally thought was that it is fairly heavy. Once you get in a rhythm doing grounders or popups becomes easy. Good product.

If you (or one of your coaches) can't hit or hit accurately this is the product for you. With about 15-20 mins of practice ANYONE can hit, grounders, choppers or pop flys with EASE.The material the racket is made form is made to last and very durable BUT the handle pad is junk and wore of within a couple of practices. I think for the cost they should either wrap it like a real bat or pad it like a tennis racket.ALSO this tool requires the kids to pay attention more because there is no crack of the bat sound.BOTTOM LINE: This is a great tool to have in the equipment bag and will make even the most uncoordinated parent/coach into a solid drill instructor.

it was difficult to use at first. Tried hitting it like a fungo bat. Once I figured it out though, I love it. Great for the 9-10 year old team and the 13-14 year old teams I coach.

I tried it at my practice last night with 8 year olds. I was hoping to use it for popflys. I had a difficult time (and that is being generous) hitting a pop-up to left field from between short and the pitchers mound. It seems to need a longer handle more like a tennis racket, or a springier web or both. I ended up just getting out a bat...

My son-in-law will make great use of this coaching tool . He was very excited to get it for Christmas and if we didn't have snow and 12 degree weather I am sure that he would have had his son out catching fungos and grounders .

This thing is terrific and the kids JUST love it (8 year olds). I like it because i have so few MIS-hits and the kids get quality and quantity at practice. Every allstart game we went to coaches want to know where I got it!!

A little pricy but works as advertised. This product is only good if you're not good with bat. You do have to get used to it and learn how to hit it with consistency. I was using it to hit high pop flys to my 7 yr old in the outfield. This is way easier to hit for accuracy than a fungo bat in a short amount of time. With practice and continual usage, you should be able to get consistent accuracy. It has some weight to it so its not that light. Looks like a well made product. 4 stars cause of the cost. If it was a little cheaper I'd give it 5 stars.

This is a nice product that does what the description says it will. The construction is of high quality. The unit is actually quite a bit heavier than I thought it would be.Once you get the hang of it you can hit balls a country mile with this thing. We got it primarily to hit fly balls, but you can hit line drives and grounders with some practice. My only gripe with this product is the price. I think it is over-priced for what it is, but we needed it, so there you have it. Another reluctant consumer...!

I bought this as a replacement for a fungo bat for hitting game like pop fly's to the baseball team I coach. It is great for hitting hard grounders, getting them to take different bounces, but I can do that with my arm. I got it for hitting the ball high and accurate. After one practice, I gave up and am now using an old racquetball racquet.

This is such a great contraption. You can effortlessly swat fly balls to your players with this accubat. Very easy to use, I let my assistant coach use it today and he loved it too. Very easy to place fly balls where you want them and as high as you need. I have used a fungo bat in the past, but even with a light swing, the balls usually are hit too far...great if you want your players running all day! The racket is thick plastic which is very strong and should hold up a long time. The netting is held together by thick rubber bands that connect to the racket. Have to swing against the side with the logo. There are two available from accubat.com and I have the heavier coaching version. I see on their website that you can purchase the netting and bands separately should that part wear out. No sore shoulders or twisted back from swinging a bat all day which I do enough of already. By the way, you can also do grounders too, but that takes some practice and I prefer a real bat for those.

I purchased the Accubat to give my arm a break from throwing pop flys in practice to our 7 and 8 YO boys. After using the Accubat for about 10 minutes, I found out that it is great for all sorts of fielding practice: line drives, grounders, deep fly balls or pop ups. It is much easier to properly position practice balls and the boys get a real kick out of the super high fly balls. I highly recommend!

Bought this product for my 10 year old son to practice fly balls, grounders, etc. This product is very well built and has exceeded my expectations. I recommend this for any player at any level, beats trying to use a bat for accuracy.

I got this to use coaching my son's baseball team. It works just like advertised. When it's my son and I at a field by ourselves, it is perfect. You can wear your glove on one hand, and hit with the other. It's very accurate. When space is a little tight, it takes a little bit of concentration and practice. It can be used for infield practice as well, but it doesn't hit as hard as I'd like for my players (10 year olds), but it is great for placement for grounders that land near them. I've had a couple of other coaches comment on it, and remark that they plan to purchase one themself. The ONLY reason I don't give it five stars, is for outfield practice, I stand close to pitchers mound to get it as deep as I want my outfielders playing. I highly recommend it for fly balls.

It is HEAVY there is little rebound in the strings and the handle is extremely short. So short it is too awkward to use. Throw the ball, toss the ball or short hold a bat but skip this. Hurts me to say it about a U.S.A. made product but it is not worth the money.

The other reviewers here have it right; this is a useful tool for hitting pop-flys for your kids to catch.Unless you're pretty coordinated, it's hard to hit consistent pop-flys with a bat. Now this is not a perfect replacement- using this does take some getting used to- but all in all it's easier & more consistent than using a bat.Of course, the price for this is too high for the casual parent; if you're in that category, you could stick with an old tennis racket & tennis balls for a similar effect.
