My firepit has a tube welded to inner wall. The rod slipped right into it. I started a fire under it on the first day to burn the paint off. A hand torch would have worked, but too time consuming. I wire-brushed the grill surface and sprayed it with olive oil to season the grate. I've cooked steaks, burgers, Hot dogs; roasted corn, potatos and toasted buns and it been flawless.
