Mission: We welcome and support people affected by immigration detention by connecting them to resources and the community.

Results: AIDNW activities assist the immigrant detainees housed in and released from the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma, Washington. This assistance is offered through the efforts of over 200 volunteers and a small paid staff. In 2021, AIDNW assisted over 1,400 released immigrant detainees. The volunteers responded to significant peaks and valleys . . . August 2021 AIDNW assisted 459 released immigrant detainees, April 2021 the total was 8.

Target demographics: We assist immigrant detainees held in and released from the detention center.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 1,400 immigrant detainees released from the detention center and at any given time provide 40 to 50 detainees held in the detention center.

Geographic areas served: We work at the NW ICE Detention Center in Tacoma, Washington

Programs: For those in detention, we provide art supplies, telephone access credits and visitation by volunteers. For those released from detention we provide travel planning assistance, clothing (primarily coats), snacks. For those remaining in the Tacoma area, we offer short term housing.
