Mission: Since 1986, Aeon has worked to serve the growing number of people in the Twin Cities who struggle to afford housing. With a vision that every person has a home and is interconnected within community, Aeon’s mission is to create and sustain quality, affordable homes that strengthen lives and communities. Strong communities start with the individuals and families who live within them—and we believe that home is at the center of a successful life.

Results: The Twin Cities is experiencing an escalating housing crisis. To address our community’s severe affordable housing shortage, Aeon takes bold action. In 2016, our Strategic Plan established the goal to create or preserve 3,000 affordable homes by 2022.Our growth places mission at the center; our community demands that Aeon and others do more to address the housing crisis, and we are committed to answer that call. Since 2017, we preserved and created nearly 2,000 affordable apartments and prevented the displacement of 3,000 low-income residents. Today Aeon owns and manages 4,440 apartment homes across the Twin Cities. 92% of our apartment homes are affordable for low-income households (earning ≤60% AMI).

Target demographics: Aeon is driven by the simple, yet ambitious, belief that everyone deserves a home. We leverage more than 30 years of experience and expertise to provide home for residents that often face great barriers to housing stability. Our properties cater to a range of residents including youth, seniors, families who have experienced homelessness, individuals with chemical and mental health challenges, and people with disabilities.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Aeon is home to approximately 9,000 residents each year.

Geographic areas served: Aeon owns 56 properties in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Chaska, Columbia Heights, Edina, Little Canada, Maplewood, Mound, New Hope, Ramsey, Richfield and Roseville.

Programs: We are making impacts in our community through three core programmatic work areas: 1) Housing Development, 2) Resident Connections and 3) Property Management.

(1) Aeon’s Housing Development team takes bold action to expand the stock of affordable homes through new construction and acquisition of affordable properties. Our preservation and construction projects knit long-term affordability into vibrant communities, ensuring opportunity and access for all—not just those at the highest levels of income.

(2) Resident Connections is Aeon’s supportive services program. Through social ties, leadership development, and targeted support services we promote long-term stability for residents with the greatest needs. Resident Connections empowers residents to take ownership of their housing stability and their future.

(3) Our Property Management team ensures our properties are quality homes for the long-term while building positive, long-term relationships with residents.
