Definitely much quieter than the normal valve. I like how you can see if the flapper is broken.

Much Quieter! That slam bang that occurs after the pump stops and that huge column of water reverses it momentum and hits against the Check-Valve is almost non-existent now. Prior to installing this I had no idea what was really causing that bang after the sump pump stopped. Very happy with this Quiet check valve!Also: I installed mine horizontally which works just fine.

This valve works great. It's silent and the clear housing let's me check to ensure the flapper is still strong and fully closing. I actually bought two of these, one for a sump pump and one for a lift station. The lift one is larger in diameter but it's still just as handy.

Replaced a failed flapper valve with this spring loaded hinge valve. Much, much quieter hopefully will last longer than the old one.

I have a 5000 gallon koi pond that pumps water to a 1000 gallon wetland filter (bog). The big is at a higher level than the pond so if I turn the pump off, the water would flow back into the pond making it messy with dirty water. I used this check valve attached to my 2 inch line for the pump, and it instantly stops water flow when the pump stops. Highly recommend this product.

Just sealed my sump pit and wanted a way to confirm the check valve was working (last one broke and I didn't know). Very practical to be able to see the water be pumped out and flap close. It's also very quite. Recommended.

It's been installed for a couple of months now, and seems to be working just fine.And it's VERY quiet, unlike the old one which shook the pipes when it closed.I just Hope it has a long life.

We had record rain last week, and the soil is super saturated. Our sump pump has been running every minute or so for over a week now. The water hammer was incredibly annoying every time the pump turned off, and this gem fixed it! Wish I had thought to get these years ago! I put one on the septic and one on the sump. Money well spent!

The banging sound of my basement pump disappeared instantly as soon as I installed this unit. It's 10 long and my old one was 8. So cutting adjustment was necessary. It took me some time to figure out where the hammering noise was coming from. It was accidentally discovered while replacing a basement bathroom sink. I'm glad not calling a plumber to spend hundreds of dollars for a $30 part and 15 minutes of my time.

I never leave reviews and this time I am. Plumber installed a 'normal' check valve and my wife was wondering why there was a shotgun in our recently finished basement. Now it's quieter than the pump itself.Install was easya bit smelly because I could have run more clean water beforehand, but not a big deal with a downstream shutoff valve (thank you same plumber).Fingers crossed for long life. That's the only question now. Time will tell.

Easy to fit and much better than originally fitted. My sump pump sometimes didn't switch off because the valve didn't always stop a back wash. New check valve solved this problem and also is almost silent.

I had an ejector pump replaced and the plumber didn't properly secure the drain pipe. At first I thought it was a check valve, so I purchased this product. I was able to install it myself, and what a huge difference it made!I know now that the violent shaking of my pipes was because they installed the pump wrong, but this valve replacement made my pipes go from seeming like they're going to rip off the walls and ceilings, to not really shaking at all. It's like magic! The difference was incredible!The clear window isn't exactly appealing when you have it on a sewage ejector though lol

This was a replacement for a valve that had been installed 2 years prior. The check valve that was previously installed wasn't as quiet and did not seem to be so easy to install. The Pump Spy is great because it is 1. Very easy to install 2. Transparent which is nice when you want to make sure it is functioning and last for most important 3. Very quiet while operating. I have only had it for a couple of months but I hope it lasts longer than 2 years. Overall, I would definitely recommend this check valve as a replacement for your pump.
