AliMed® Solid Seat Insert™ with Pommel Here's a truly useful abduction wedge that also eliminates wheelchair seat sag. Fixed pommel resists collapse for the most secure positioning. Pommel is padded with soft, comfortable, polyfoam. For more cushioning and enhanced pressure distribution, choose the model with a 1" T-Foam (Temper Foam) or T-Gel™ layer covering the entire sitting surface.
The solid seat insert is only 1-1/2" thick at the center and effectively fills sling seat sag. The cushion is upholstered in slip-resistant, liquid-resistant vinyl. Back ties included, plus a square of ScootGard which can be used between the cushion and seat to prevent slippage.
Pommel Cushions limit adduction
Pommel Cushions help reducethe risk of adduction or internalrotation contracture while limiting forwardsliding in the wheelchair. The pommel alsohelps separate the knees to reduce skinshear and allow air to circulate.Pommel Cushions are recommendedfor residents who require a supportive sittingsurface and adduction control, who have atendency to slide forward or require post-ophip replacement care, and those with lower-extremityspasticity.

Solid Seat Insert with Pommel
The flat top surface and convex base of theSolid Seat Insert (SSI) eliminates seat sag andcreates a level foundation. Choose from threedifferent sitting surfaces. Standard foam isrecommended for patients without skin integrityissues; T-Foam™ offers excellent pressureredistribution for those with low-to-moderateskin integrity issues; T-Gel™ offers optimalshear reduction for moderate-risk individuals bymimicking fatty tissue and moving with the skin.
Sit-Straight Wedge with Pommel
Wedge shape positions knees slightly higherthan hips to discourage forward migration ofthe pelvis, making them ideal for those with atendency for forward sliding.
Release Pommel Cushions
Standard pommel cushions utilize anonremovable pommel, which presents anobstacle when transferring the patient. Ourrevolutionary Release Pommel is attachedto the cushion by a secure retaining strap.When it is time to transfer, the pommel can bereleased and dropped out of the way, allowingthe transfer to be safely performed with onlyone assistant.
