I'm about an intermediate level ice skater, these shorts work amazing at cushioning a fall on the rump. I literally don't feel anything. I absolutely will not get on the ice without these on. The quality of the material seems very poor, when I put them on I'm very careful, because it seems like they would rip very easily, however so far they have not.

Padding a lot thinner than I expected and I doubt could offer real cushioning in a fall.

These negative reviews mentioning the holes are hilariousthe holes are how you remove the pads to wash the dang things, the material is very elastic just stretch the hole to pull out the pad. The shorts don't improve my silhouette, but they fit comfortably under my clothes and are hardly noticeable if i wear a jacket. I find myself wearing them pretty high to get the pads where I want. I haven't taken a fall yet but I'm reasonably confident in the protection these offer. I'm wearing them skateboarding.
