Mission: Performance, presentation, commissioning, recording and dissemination of american music for symphony orchestra; professional development for american composers; and educational activities about american music for students and the general public.

Programs: Performances of american orchestral and concert music: performed four concerts, plus open rehearsals, of orchestral music by contemporary composers in new york city at carnegie hall and symphony space. Programs included a celebration of the 80th birthday of composer steve reich plus seven world premieres. Concerts bring broad public attention to the work of talented american composers. Concerts attended by a diverse audience of over 3,500, including students. Additional listeners through recordings, web streams and broadcasts.

new music readings and training for emerging composers: presented new music readings for emerging composers in new york city; buffalo, ny; and indianapolis, in. These programs provided 16 composers with career training and advancement, through workshops, open rehearsals, and professional feedback. Audiences are introduced to new artistic talent. Artists from under-represented backgrounds are provided career support.

music factory - music education program:providing in-school and after-school classes, workshops and lessons for middle and high-school students in ten schools around new york city. Students undertake individual and group projects, learn to compose and perform, and build musical skills, while also enhancing tranferable abilities such as communication, organization, teamwork, and listening skills. Over 10,800 student interactions during the year.
