Causes: Animals

Mission: Fostering a caring community for animals by providing shelter, advancing animal welfare, and promoting the bonds between animals and humans through innovative programs, education and service

Programs: The center exists as a community resource for individuals needing to relinquish their cat or dog, a place to take stray animals and a resource for adoptable companion animals. We provide a healthy, temporary home where physical and emotional animal needs are met. All animals are vaccinated and both medically and behaviorally assessed. Stray intakes or owners surrenders during this fiscal year: 244 cats and 310 dogs. Adoptions in fiscal year: 231 cats and 309 dogs.

education goal: improved animal welfare through humane education. During the fiscal year: five education courses for children entering grades one-six were offered during school breaks; high school leadership groups, businesses, civic groups and community leaders toured our facility, resulting in increased knowledge of appropriate animal treatment; and over 159 volunteers were educated on caring for our adoptable animals while in their temporary home at our center.
