Causes: Education, Educational Services, Ethnic & Immigrant Centers, Human Services, Immigration, Literacy, Remedial Reading & Encouragement

Mission: We are a volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides free, individualized, one-on-one literacy, math, GED, and ESL instruction to interested low-income adults and out-of-school youth in Anne Arundel County.

Results: There were 254 active tutor/student matches during 2019 and over 300 county inmates who received free literacy and math instruction. Goals achieved included GEDs, jobs, better-paying jobs, entry into trade/technical schools, and improved quality of life. There is no charge to the student for books, tutoring, or assessments they receive, and they can meet in any public location at convenient days and times for individualized instruction.

Target demographics: low-income adults and out-of-school youth in Anne Arundel County, MD

Direct beneficiaries per year: 254 county adults and out-of-school youth and over 300 inmates at Jennifer Rd. Detention Center and Ordnance Rd. Correctional Center.
