I thought I had an ammonia problem in my pond, but after testing I found everything was normal. It took one simple test to find out for sure. Glad I bought it.

Just starting out I never really paid attention to how important the levels in your tank are. I purchased this and the Nitrate test kit and was shocked to see what I was subjecting my fish too. Needless to say I was doing dailly water changes for a while there and had to upgrade my filtering system to levels into a safe area. This does it was it is supposed to and is nearly 50% less expensive than was I seeing at local stores to me it was an easy choice, you need to know your tank levels if you are keeping more than and a goldfish or a beta and even then it never hurts might as well save some money on the purchase.

I've never owned an aquarium before in my life until recently. Having said that, I never knew how much work goes into maintaining them. Whether or not I'm "overdoing" it, I learned from other people on aquarium forums is that you absolutely have to watch for ammonia levels in your aquarium. When I asked around, many people said API was one of the better companies out there for water testing. So with that said, I bought this product. As I was reading the reviews on this product, someone mentioned that API should have included a pipette or eyedropper with this kit to measure out the aquarium water to place into the test tube. Upon reading that, I decided upon buying these along with my purchase: Stain Dropper Tache Gouttes Eyedroppers (1 pack of 6 units). I can definitely say that having the eyedropper does make it easier to accurately measure out the aquarium water in the test tube.Other than the eyedropper (which isn't exactly required), you get everything you need for dozens of water tests (chemicals, test tube w/ cap, instructions, and color chart cards for both salt & fresh water). This is a nice kit and helps me monitor the ammonia levels in my aquarium to make sure my fish aren't swimming in toxic water. Recommended!

API makes very good test kits, and this test kit is one of the more important ones for checking on water quality and to avoid fish dying of toxicity. Bottle has the safety cap which keeps kids safe from it. Well done. Just wish though that the test tube cover can be consistently tight. Some are. Some aren't. Maybe API can lean on their supplier to improve on this.

This API Ammonia Test Kit works exactly as expected. The color chart is easy to follow and the white background helps to accurately compare the colors.

I've tried a variety of test kits for my tank and have found this product to be easy to use and it works very well. My only real issue is that the smell of the chemicals get on your hand and is hard to get off. Other than that I think this is a great test kit!

Yes. It tests for ammonia. It's accurate. The only thing they could do is maybe include an eyedropper to make it easier to fill the water to the fill line in the test tube. I waste quite a bit of water by having to dump it out because I put too much in the tube, and having to do it again and again because it is nearly impossible to get the meniscus to the fill line. Good product, but if you don't have an eyedropper you're going to have a bad time.

Much cheaper than what we found in our local pet stores. Arrived when expected, as expected. This is a better deal than the strips that you can buy and not difficult to use.

We just started keeping up an aquarium and don't know much about fish-keeping. We knew we needed to test our water, though, so we got this basic ammonia testing kit. It is quick and simple and helps us keep our fish safe. We've already discovered some unsafe ammonia levels and have been able to remedy the situation. Hopefully we will keep our fish alive and healthy for a long time with the help of this kit!

Must have for cycling aquariums. If you are new to aquariums and need to cycle a tank this is a must have and will last forever or until you get sick of the hobby.

This was a replacement for my master test kit, but I love every API product I've used. This kit is way more accurate and cheaper overall than those paper test.

For people using Prime in their tanks: Prime acts as a binder for ammonia to make it safe. There are two types of ammonia in fish tanks. NH3 and NH4. One is free ammonia, and the other is ionized ammonia. Free ammonia is very dangerous to fish, the other is not as dangerous. The API Ammonia Test Kit only checks for the presence of ammonia, it can't tell you which it's detecting giving you a positive result when the only ammonia may be ionized ammonia. I'm sure that kit works well, but for those of us using prime, you want to use the Seachem MultiTest: Free & Total Ammonia test kit.Seachem MultiTest Ammonia Test Kit

With this kit, you can check your ammonia levels easily using a couple of drops from two bottles and the included test tube. Checking ammonia is very important during the cycling process as you can gauge when water changes are needed. I've been using this while my tank has been cycling and have yet to lose a fish because I always know when a water change is required.

Been using this for the past week while cycling my tank. Has been giving accurate readings so far (I compared them to the readings my local fish store gave me). This is the first tank I've ever owned and I was nervous this test would be difficult, but it's actually very easy. I would highly recommend to anyone. Ammonia is one of the most toxic chemicals that is produced from fish waste, so the ability to monitor it is a great asset in maintaining a healthy aquarium.

Ok, If this is your first time using a test kit....great! Everyone should have one that has fish. This is a salicylate type kit which is important if you are going to use de-toxer type ammonia stop chemicals. Some will show a false reading of ammonia. Read the back of the detoxer to see if compatable with this test kit. Kit works fine.

This test kit is very easy to use. Some aquarium water, a few drops from bottle A, a few drops from bottle B, wait five minutes and you're done. The results are very easy to read.

There's a lot of options out there for testing Ammonia levels, in Freshwater nothing is better than the API Test. While I find the 5 in 1 strips fine for things like PH,GH, Nitrate and Nitrate, the ammonia ones never seem to be accurate. This is always on point, never gets it wrong.I wouldn't use anything else for Ammonia.
