In my pond aeration scheme, I rely on air bubbles to provide adequate oxygen for my fish and to prevent freezing during the winter. I have been using 2"round porous sandstone media for the bubbles, but I find that they become clogged with algae and eventually do not emit air bubbles with any velocity. I tried the Aquascape 75005 Aeration Disc and find that they provide much better airflow than the sandstone balls and they don't accumulate the algae as fast. The density of bubbles is much greater with the disc than with the balls. I wish I had used them sooner, as they have made pond maintenance much easier. Because they are flat, they don't move around the bottom of the pond as much as the balls, which seem to move whenever the fish brush by them. I would often have to reposition them. With the flat discs, they stay in their place and I can maintain uniform bubbler spacing on the pond floor. Excellent product for the money!
