Mission: Assistance League volunteers transform the lives of children and adults through community programs.

Results: The Assistance League of Wichita (ALW) is 100% volunteer run and has served the Wichita community since 1987.The ALW membership documented over 17,800 volunteer hours of community service during the past fiscal year, and reached over 7,400 children and families through four philanthropic programs. . . Scholarships, Operation School Bell, Assault Survivor Kits, and Bear Hugs.

Target demographics: Assistance League of Wichita (ALW) volunteers transform lives and strengthen community through four philanthropic programs, serving students whose families are facing economic hardship and individuals who have been victims of violence.

Direct beneficiaries per year: ALW served 6,863 students through Operation School Bell 2020-2021; provided support to two area hospitals who examine and treat sexual assault survivors; awarded seven first-year and eleven 2nd-year scholarships to area seniors and provided mentors; and provided items for comfort and to promote healing for child victims of violence examined and treated at area hospitals.

Programs: Bear Hugs (for children who are victims of abuse or violence); Assault Survivor Kits (for adults and children who are survivors of sexual assault); Post-Secondary Scholarships (for graduating USD 259 high school students demonstrating need and commitment); Operation School Bell (to provide clothing, food, hygiene items, school supplies and literacy support for school-age, PreK-12, children in need).
