Pretty much like everyone else, I saw this on SMA first, then the TTC second..if your in with both, you know you “done good” as my hick co-worker likes to say. It's easily the most well balanced, and powerful 1/2” impact on the market..and like a hit off a crack pipe, the high you get as you power through bolts etc. that other impacts simply can't break free is other worldly. So load up that pipe and get ready to fill it with many successful Ugga duggas.

First off, it is a powerful gun, but 1600ftlbs of breaking torque it has not. Got it yesterday took it to work, added some air tool oil, 3/8 air fitting and put it to the test on a semi truck 33mm lugnuts. It did take them off but not easily. Tightened lugnuts with it and put a torque wrench on them, wrench was set to 475ftlbs. Turned lugnuts 1/4 turn to torque, not bad. I also have the astro pneumatic onyx 1/2 stubby that is advertised for 500ftlbs, put it to the test, same results. I have a Matco 1/2 gun that rated for 1400ftlbs, it is much more powerful but it was $500. I'm happy with the Thor but not over impressed.

Great gun, power for days. The hammer mass is very evident when impacting, really rattles things. The trigger is not quite as delicate as my 2235, even after breaking in, but is still adequate. Very happy with my purchase, would be a solid gun at twice the price. Quite the bargain.

Beats any gun of my coworkers guns that where purchased of the tool trucks at a fraction of the cost . It's a little heavy but I can live with that

This thing is very strong, will shear off fasteners really quick. Traded up(down in price) from Matco 1/2” gun

Very good impact for price, my snap on gun was having a hard time with the hub tamer, this beast pulls rusty wheel bearings right out. I'd buy 2 of these before I buy a tool truck gun. Only con is this thing is an air hog.

I've been using this impact almost a month. I'm running it on 150 psi 1/4 air nipple. I've read the reviews and watched the testing channels and decided to go with it. Its strong but nothing to write home about. I've been using a CP for 20 plus years. yes its stronger but not 2 or 3 times stronger. I don't like the square body because it does not get close enough in tight situations. I use it mainly for breaking loose tougher bolts like Detroit head bolts and tightening fly bolts. I got mine for 149.00 which is a bargain. Did Astro send out pre production models for reviews and testing then scale back the production models? I yet to see the performance i was sold on. It may break 1/2 bolts but it wont break 5/8 bolts no matter how much you hammer on it. I think it tightens about 400 ft lbs. Break torque about 450 ft lbs possibly 500 ft lbs. NO WHERE NEAR 800-900 ft lbs that is complete lie.

This impact is amazing. I've never had an impact that zipped out bolts and nuts as well as this guy. For half the price of others, it's well worth the money.

Have been using it here and there when needed. Bought to replace my aircat 1250k. Thor is a strong gun but shes wide and doesn't fit as easily as my 1250k. I will say that it is a brute in strength but I miss my 1250k more. After 9 years of abuse I should have just bought another.

For the price this impact is a beast. It easily over powers my Snapon impacts with ease. It's well balanced as most of the weight is right over your hand instead of on the snout of the impact. I highly recommend this impact.

I own just about every top of the line impact there is and this gun is the most powerful 1/2” impact you can buy. It's not very ergonomic, it's heavy for a short impact wrench. Bottom line, you pull this thing out when everything else failed to do the job. It's a must have but I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use.

I use this in a shop setting and the gun has been unstoppable. I have been more than pleased you actually have to watch the power can be to much for tightening when compared to my IR.

Does a great job for the value. Been using it for about a week now and haven't run into something it won't do yet. It's a bit on the chunky side and the grip isn't great but we'll worth the money

Waited a bit for mine and I've had it now for about 6 months. I routinely replace wear edges on snow plows and those dome head plow bolts can be extra tough to break loose. They get pretty rusted over the winter and usually, even a liberal application of PBlaster don't do much. I was using an IR Thunder Gun and it would break them after about 5 minutes of hammering on them non stop (I have a Sullaire screw compressor and run 3/4 air line with high flow connectors at 135 psi. First time I used the Thor, it broke every one loose (or twisted the nuts off) in less than 15 seconds each. It certainly makes the ugga-dugga's, just like Torque Test Channel says it does.If you are gonna do lug nuts I suggest turning it down to setting one and be careful anyway. I don't use an impact wrench to tighten anything, I use a manual ratchet and torque wrench. I do use the Thor to seat the plow bolts in the plow steels but in setting 2 only. I'm concerned at setting 3, it might break them off.The trigger is notchy out of the box and requires some cycling and additional oil to get it to work smoothly and don't forget to feed it some quality air tool oil, I use the IR air tool oil myself. My air system has a refrigerated dryer as well. Keeps the water out of my tools and prolongs their life. I recommend at least 1/2 hose with high flow connectors. The tool really consumes a lot of air. Finally stick with high quality impact rated sockets. Astro sells a nice set reasonable price. You'll split the cheap ones, pretty quick.I'm impressed with it. really not for the home shop but if you work with rusted fasteners like I do, you cannot beat the brute power. Sure acts like a 3/4 drive wrench in a 1/2 package.

Great gun for the money. A lot of power in this gun. The only negative thing I can possibly think of is the grip/handle isn't as comfortable as my other impacts. But it's really not bad.

Had awesome power for 6 weeks of heavy use, then broke apart. Great power for the price, but if you work in heavy equipment it's not going to last long.

As some other reviews stated, I broke a housing bolt within the first job I used it on. Never dropped or mishandled in the slightest. I still use it without any ill effect until the replacement bolt shows up. After using it on a number of occasions, I'm just not impressed with it. The forward/reverse switch is awkward. The gun seems excessively heavy and isn't balanced well. The trigger has some weird two stage thing going on and is quite irritating if you have the gun in a tight place and have to readjust your grip to add more pressure to depress it fully. It's properly oiled so I don't think that's the issue. The gun does make good power once you figure out it's quirks, but I've switched back to my 20 yr old IR composite gun. If you can only buy one impact gun and want the most beans possible for around $200, then this is the gun to get. If you want an impact gun that's actually comfortable to use all day, then go pick up an IR (or a snappy if you have the coin).A sidenote: I wish Astro would offer protective boots for their impact guns. They just look like trash after a while without one due to daily wear and tear.

Used for for removing 80 15/16 lock nuts. Each was torqued to anywhere from 210 to 229 ft lbs. Removed all with ease. My 2235timax struggled to remove many last time and had to use my 3/4 MG1250. It was not easy due to confined space and weight l. So I picked this up and made the job easier. I used 3/8 air fittings on 1/2 inch hose

Was gonna get an IR 3/4 but I saw this one on YouTube, decided to give it a try since the price is good. I work on trucks, and this gun absolutely can take out lug nuts and anything I put it up against. My co-workers were pretty impressed to say the least, they're all getting one lol Love it!!!
