I like that at times Thor has an identity crisis and thinks it a 3/4 impact.. actually that's the case most of the time. I have oiled it every morning and that's it. It's dirty, has battle scars, been put through it all and it keeps going. I'm a heavy truck mechanic in the rust belt. It cracks 1-1/2 inch mack spring pin bolts no problem. That said the honey moon is over and I've noticed things. You can over oil this impact. It stalls if you do when tightening bolts. Also the selector switch sticks. If you lightly press the trigger it frees up. I contacted customer support. The rep said they would send me an updated one. I haven't seen it. It's been 2 months. Sometimes when using the impact the direction switch can be bumpped in the opposite direction. Besides that it holds its own in power, but it needs to be refined. I'd be really excited to either see a dial or rearward buttons for the selector/ direction switch.

It's not as strong as my matco 1600 ftlb gun but it does well especially for under 200 bucks

It was kinda lackluster, then I removed the muffler and it came to life. Great bang for your buck. Two small complaints, the trigger. I've read reviews that the trigger will get better over time. Really minor complaint, it doesn't come with a sticker. Most mechanics want stickers to put on their tool boxes. I'm one of them lol. It would get 5 stars if not for the trigger.

Forward and reverse switch is very ergonomic and feels good. Trigger is gets stuck if not pressed directly in the center, even after applying oil to the mechanism. I've also been using the impact for about a week now. The weight of the impact is fairly far back compared to others, making it less fatiguing on the wrist. Overall it seems to be a good value. Strong and reasonably fast.

I am a professional mechanic, so this gets used daily. I have used this for a few months now and I can honestly say this is a great buy. If I can get a year out of it I will definitely be buying another one.

First off, it is a powerful gun, but 1600ftlbs of breaking torque it has not. Got it yesterday took it to work, added some air tool oil, 3/8 air fitting and put it to the test on a semi truck 33mm lugnuts. It did take them off but not easily. Tightened lugnuts with it and put a torque wrench on them, wrench was set to 475ftlbs. Turned lugnuts 1/4 turn to torque, not bad. I also have the astro pneumatic onyx 1/2 stubby that is advertised for 500ftlbs, put it to the test, same results. I have a Matco 1/2 gun that rated for 1400ftlbs, it is much more powerful but it was $500. I'm happy with the Thor but not over impressed.

Have been using it here and there when needed. Bought to replace my aircat 1250k. Thor is a strong gun but shes wide and doesn't fit as easily as my 1250k. I will say that it is a brute in strength but I miss my 1250k more. After 9 years of abuse I should have just bought another.

I own just about every top of the line impact there is and this gun is the most powerful 1/2” impact you can buy. It's not very ergonomic, it's heavy for a short impact wrench. Bottom line, you pull this thing out when everything else failed to do the job. It's a must have but I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use.

As some other reviews stated, I broke a housing bolt within the first job I used it on. Never dropped or mishandled in the slightest. I still use it without any ill effect until the replacement bolt shows up. After using it on a number of occasions, I'm just not impressed with it. The forward/reverse switch is awkward. The gun seems excessively heavy and isn't balanced well. The trigger has some weird two stage thing going on and is quite irritating if you have the gun in a tight place and have to readjust your grip to add more pressure to depress it fully. It's properly oiled so I don't think that's the issue. The gun does make good power once you figure out it's quirks, but I've switched back to my 20 yr old IR composite gun. If you can only buy one impact gun and want the most beans possible for around $200, then this is the gun to get. If you want an impact gun that's actually comfortable to use all day, then go pick up an IR (or a snappy if you have the coin).A sidenote: I wish Astro would offer protective boots for their impact guns. They just look like trash after a while without one due to daily wear and tear.

Yep, I had to wait several months for the restock, but it's worth it!This thing is a beast!Another great recommendation from Torque Test Channel on UTube.Slow throttling the trigger with only THREE tak-tak-taks easily spins off lugs nuts on automobiles, which are typically torqued down to 80 - 100 lbs.-ft.I'm scared to pull the trigger fully on lugs nuts! The Thor easily out-torques my old Ingersoll Rand 2235TiMax, which has not been relegated to back-up duty. The 2235 was slightly lighter in weight and a bit more balanced in hand. The 2235 costs more brand new.The trigger was a bit sticky, but using some lube on the trigger assembly minimized this problem, as mentioned in TTC.Adjustment of forward / reverse and 1 - 2 - 3 power levels is going to take some getting used to, as I like how the 2235 was laid out all on the back of the gun.The Thor has forward / reverse above the trigger, and the 1 - 2 - 3 level spin adjustment at the base by the air inlet - rather awkward for me.For the sub-$200 1/2 air gun, this will bang with all the big boys - i.e. tool truck - at a great discount. The question is how well stocked is it going to be versus demand...Can't wait to try this thing on stubborn, rusted suspension fasteners!

Let me start off with this tool is amazing with the short time I've used it. At the shop I'm at we run 90 PSI throw all are air line. Being excited for my new tool I hook it up to the air line and the first full trigger pull the bolt head blow off. I was really disappointed when this happened. But I continued to use it throughout the day and lit me tell you it amazing. The sad part is. im probably going to return it or go through the worrany process. I give up dates on what happeneds...

I've been using a Carlyle 1/2in drive impact from Napa as my daily drive for about 5 years. It finally died and since I had such good luck with my onyx die grinders. I decided to try the Thor dispite it being more expensive than a Napa impact. This thing is nice. It's way smoother than the Napa impact and way more powerful. It is slightly heavier overway, but it's a little more balanced and more comfortable to hold. I do miss the F/R switch bring a lever I could trip back and forth with my thumb single handedly, but the wing style selector on Thor is solid and a smooth action. My favorite thing though, is that this impact doesn't jerk when the trigger is pulled. The spin up is smooth. I don't know if the hammer action has been removed to achieve this, but so far it hasn't hesitate to remove a bolt.
