Mission: Atlas fundamentally expands access to assistance dogs. We support people with disabilities to train and certify their own service dog using positive, ethical training methods. At Atlas, we believe anyone who would benefit from a qualified assistance dog should be able to have one.

Results: Atlas was founded in 2014.We currently have 14 certified client/dog teams and 5 teams going through our client certification program. We have 25 Team Facilitators who work hands on with the clients; preparing the teams to work effectively in public and supporting them in the training of their service dog. In 2016 we launched our online Academy for professional dog trainers. . Atlas’ Trainer Academy gives experienced dog trainers the knowledge and tools needed to support their clients in the training of their service dog. Through this, we are expanding the pool of qualified and ethical trainers able to work with people with disabilities and their service dogs. We have created an incredible community of passionate trainers, eager to learn and help people. In 2020 we launched our Teams Set in Motion Program. Our goal was to create a program that could be used as a guide to support individuals training puppies and/or adolescent dogs. The course includes socialization, how to build confidence and focus, training methods, setting up and training sessions, basic obedience and so much more. In 2021 we launched our Assistance Dogs Set in Motion™ program. This program is for the person who can work with a slightly more mature and skilled dog, but for whom finding, raising, and training a puppy and young adolescent is simply not feasible.
