Polk Audio XT10 Powered Subwoofer is replacing an Advent 12 powered subwoofer that is nearly 20 years old. The Polk unit is smaller than my older unit and it puts out a cleaner and crisper sound. Setup took less than 5 minutes. I am using this for few more days before I make any volume adjustments, if they are needed. This is a great unit for the price!

I bought this to supplement some high quality bookshelf speakers. I thought the system sounded pretty good before, but the sub made a huge difference. Not only is there all the bass I want, (though I should state that I'm not a bass freak so it might not be the unit to buy if you want to shake the windows and annoy the neighbors), The sound quality is great to my ears, and somehow, the whole sound is more distinct. If I want to focus on instruments other than the bass they seem significantly clearer in the mix. I don't know why this would occur, but it certainly seems to. I am very happy.

I'm setting up a secondary listening room in my house where I will resurrect my BW 805 bookshelf speakers. If I remember right, these have 6-inch woofers, so their bass extension is limited. Adding the Polk Monitor XT10 subwoofer will help fill in the bottom end.Although my system isn't set up yet, I did some preliminary testing with the sub and it works just as you would expect, pumping out the low notes right into the floor through its downward-firing 10-inch driver. I'm using a dedicated subwoofer cable and this is the only option for connecting the sub to your receiver. There are no speaker cable connectors.You can adjust the volume and the crossover frequency using knobs on the rear panel. I'll start at 80 Hz with my little BWs and the sub volume at the halfway mark. I set up the power switch to automatically detect a signal to turn on the sub's internal amplifier and this also worked as expected.In my preliminary testing the Polk seems like it produces less audio volume than my old Energy subwoofer in my home theater system. That sub has a similar 10-inch driver, but is forward-facing, and similar amplifier power. Perhaps after I do some setup and adjustment I'll find that the Polk gives similar performance. The Polk is about half the price of what I paid for the Energy 20 years ago, so adjusting for inflation, the Energy costs WAY MORE than the Polk.The sub came well-packaged in a cardboard box with internal protection, the sub was wrapped in that white foam you see on lots of audio equipment, and it came with a power cord and manual.This kit is made in China.

Replaced a Klipsch after the subwoofer electronics spontaneously fried. The sound of this Polk is better has a rich full bass. Am very happy. Highly recommend.

This delivers the reverberation and deep bass that makes you feel like you're at the concert. Powerful- I only have mine up a little bit and it rocks the room. Works great with my look floorstanding speakers.
