Years ago, I bought my first Bates paratrooper boots in a brick-and-mortar store in Saint Louis. Fit fine, with a limited break-in period (as is natural for such things). Having walked straight through the tread in them and with holes forming through the vamp from the creases of a couple million steps, I bought a new pair online and they fit perfectly. My husband liked their look on me so much that they wanted a pair and so, with their measurements, we figured out what would fit them and ordered another pair online--which fits them perfectly. You can't go wrong with these boots. Quality build that lasts. The only weak spot is that it takes a little bit to stretch the leather on the strap that goes over the zip so it can button up right while being worn, and that's just a function of the materials involved. Give it two weeks and it's fine.
