I'm a mechanic. I've been buying rechargeable work lights from local suppliers for years. They all only last about 3 months. They usually don't survive when dropped. Also, repeated recharges take their toll on the batteries. Some brand names cost a lot of money, but still, they don't last.I took a chance on the Bayco SLR-2166 and bought two. Well, they not only give off really bright light, but both lights have survived a number of falls. One light was left on top of a car (not recommended) that was put up on a lift. It fell approximately 10 ft. to the concrete and is still working. I haven't owned them long enough to speak to the recharging problem (two months), but they're doing better than anything else I've bought. Highly recommended.

Had this light for about a year. The last light I had was corded, and was OK. This light is brighter, and will get into places the other was too big for. I have another corded light, but use this one instead. It is easier and better.

In our shop one of our guys uses everything hard. There isn't a drop light that has survived more than 6 months. This one is the same, but is more expensive. It is a great light, plenty bright, but is only consumer level construction (read sits most of it's life). For 90% of people this is a great purchase.

Works great. I used it for countless hours on the charge it arrived with. The original unit had a switch that caused the leds to quiver. Called bayco and they shipped a replacement immediately. A++++ Love the light. Got one for a full time mechanic friend and he sings its praises (with the exception of the fact it gets dirty easy. hahaha). The magnets are super strong. I have since gotten my Dad 2 of them. Cordless and bright. Get the light and you will love it.

This light has been a good light. Going for over a year now and only 1 LED is burned out. This light replaced a cheap light I bought on here. It was crap, this is a good light. I would buy it again. Good product.

Just a few observations I didn't see elsewhere. The light is longer than it appears in the picture, about 16 inches. It has a nice charge light which is red while charging that turns off to indicate the battery is fully charged. There are two magnets, one on top, one on the side. You can attach the magnetic hook that comes with the light to hang it or use either magnet to stick the light to a metallic surface. The magnet on the side, while strong, doesn't always support the light's weight when attached to a vertical surface. The light slowly slides down the metallic surface. And last, mine came with a large sticker glued to the clear plastic part of the light. It looked temporary and since I didn't see it in the pictures, I tried to peel it off. But it left a lot of glue residue which was hard to remove. I was eventually able to remove all the glue and now it's great. Besides those issues, the light seems very well built, well designed, and really bright. I am happy with this purchase.Update 1/7/13: I changed from 4 to 5 stars after using it for several months. I love this light and use it all the time both inside my house and in my garage when fixing my car. My kids use is at night (using the flashlight bulbs at the bottom of the light) when they take the trash out and the light is so bright, it's like a car's headlight. I dropped it from about 4 feet and thought I had to break it, however, there was no visible damage and after I recharged it, it was like new. I love the rechargeable aspect to this light and I recharge it several times per week and it results in a brightness that is the same as when I charged it the first time and seems to last a long time. I've used it turning it on and off over a several hour period and it didn't drain the battery. I got oil/grease/dirt on it when working on my car and degreaser took it off and it still looks almost new. It's a pretty pricey light but it's worth it.

Bought this and was impressed by how bright it was. Not sure if the battery is defected but it would begin to die out if left on for more than ten minutes.

I have used Bayco lights for several years and regularly give them as gifts. I keep an SLR-2134 in each vehicle and they have always worked when I needed them, until last night. I needed to check something under the hood of my jeep (which of course has no under-hood light), and apparently the flood light end of the light had stopped working for some reason. The spotlight end still worked, so I was able to see what I needed to see, but just didn't have the convenience of the flood light. I contacted customer service and they were great. They answered the phone quickly, were very friendly, and processed my return claim very quickly. There aren't many companies that operate like this any more, so let's help keep these guys around for years!

I have been thoroughly impressed with this rechargeable light, which I purchased to use at my workbench and as an emergency lantern during a power failure. The light is brilliant, and lasts for an unexpectedly long time. The designers did a good job--there's a hook at the top from which you can hang the light, plus a strong magnet for attaching it to any ferrous surface. Note that the manual suggests that you put the lantern through a conditioning sequence when new: charge the light, then thoroughly run down the batteries (which takes a long time) then repeat a few times. All in all, an excellent product.

This light is extremely bright and useful. No complaints, except that the switch stopped working after the second recharge. Never dropped or abused.. but the light began to flicker from time to time, then only work when the button was held down.. then nothing. (All within an hour or so). The switch works in the second position still, so not a total loss. Have to run to the electronics shop and re-solder in a new switch if I can find a decent replacement.Overall though, a great light. I think I just got a lemon.UPDATE: Before searching for a new switch, I decided to pry open the faulty one and see what is inside. The tension spring forcing the contact had weakened a bit, and wouldn't allow proper function. Just spread the spring a bit and reassembled, and no problems after that.

I just got this light recently and so far am very impressed. I like the ouput, very bright light. It charges fast and holds the charge for quite a while. I charged it as soon as it came in and have used it for about two or three hours so far. The magnets are a great idea, but have one drawback. Any metal filings in the area are a pain to get off the magnets. Having them to hold the light is very nice, though. One other great thing about this light is that it does not get hot or blow bulbs when it gets bumped. I would deffinitely recommend this product!

The last light I had was a ten dollar special from one of the discount tool stores. One of the things that drove me crazy was the unguarded switch. Anyone that works on vehicles knows there are many time that you need a light pointing down. I was constantly, accidentally shutting off the old light. Bayco has guarded the switch on this light to prevent that. It is a very bright light. And it has a unique magnet/hook hanging system. Only negative. Not made in the USA.

Pros:the main light is very bright with no hotspots or hard shadows and casts a broad beam. better than a 100w drop light2 octagonal rings prevent the light from rolling and allow it to be aimed up, sideways, at 45 degrees, or stand on end.rechargeable - uses NiMH batteries instead of NiCAD - Go green!comes with 110v household power & 12v car charging cord/adapters so you can charge it at home or in a car.the unit stops charging once fully charged, so you can leave it plugged in until you need it.the magnets are STRONG! they will hold on to anything made of steel or iron. a big plus if you want the light to stay in one place.the included hook also has a magnet that links it to the light so you can hang it up easily.the batteries last 4 hours with full brightness. enough to last a shift if you only use it half the time.cons: (all are minor to me)the small 6-LED light on the end is pretty weak and doesn't reach very far.the magnets are STRONG! so if you need to move the light around, it will try to stick to anything & everything.the batteries last 4 hours with full brightness. won't last a full shift if you constantly use it. (there's a corded version that's awesome too)not ideal for hurricane kits since the built-in batteries can't be changed if you lose power for days.not weather/waterproofremarks:i found the magnet in the handle very annoying, so i removed it. i find the one on the tip 50% useful, 50% annoying. i'm undecided on whether to remove it.the magnets are also powerful enough to magnetize other tools just by being in the same toolbag. i would have preferred that the light have steel plugs in the tip & handle with a magnet only in the detachable hook.i'm a flashlight "junkie" and this is my go-to light around the house. i even took it caving - it lit an entire chamber with 30' high ceiling! i found it invaluable during this years typhoon season; no stumbling around in the dark during power outages!

My son got me one of these for father's day and I love so much I went and got another. I use it for camping, I no longer bring the bulky propane lites. I do a lot of hiking and I throw this right in my backpack, it very light and gives a better light then a flashlight. It has a car charger, but it last long enough for a weekend of camping.

This is the best led light I have purchased to date, and I have gone through at least three others. I just received it and it is the brightest I have ever gotten. It is more than worth the price and I even compared it with my old light which pales in comparison. I reccomend it by all means

Nice quality light, much brighter than the 60 led that we previously had. That one simply stopped working, so I looked to buy another. So far no problems with this one. My husband really likes that it can stand up on its own & the magnetic hook can be used to hang the light vertically or horizontally. Nice light.
