Mission: Our goal is to rescue, rehabilitate farm animals and to educate and inspire the public about their care and welfare. We provide a lifelong sanctuary for our adopted animals with veterinary care, proper feeding, environment enrichment and love. At the same time giving people who might not have had contact with farm animals a hand on experience. We offer learning programs for children and teens, helping them to connect and build emotional and mental well-being through the human- animal bond.

Results: We serve Thurston County and the South Puget Sound region. BDFS has a little over 100 residents that make their permanent homes here, where they are given love, lifetime care and the ability to be themselves. We had over 2,000 guests that attended BDFS in 2019 that learned about farm animals, their care, welfare, their stories and how agribusiness impacts them.

Target demographics: At our facility we rehabilitate them, educate the public about We provide care and feeding, inspire others to continue our mission in the community.

Direct beneficiaries per year: 100 plus children and 85 animals.

Geographic areas served: We rescue distressed, displace and abused farm animals

Programs: We offer guided tours to the public, we will offer classes soon to children about animals, their care and feeding. We offer Equine Assisted Learning and soon Equine Assisted Therapy. We believe that the human-animal bond helps heal so many different individuals.
