In 30 years of commercial fishing experience, I've used tarred nylon for many tasks: building and repairing shrimp nets, trawl nets, king crab pots, crab rings for non commercial, non slip wrap for handrails and even making nets for glass balls. Nylon provides the strength and tar provides the durability from deterioration from sun, abrasion and salt water. Good stuff with a long history of quality.
