One of my conceits is that I like to bake (and decorate) my childrens' birthday cakes. This year I was perusing recipes with middle kid, when they showed me a web page.This is the cake I want for this year....black velvet?Yes! Please?Kiddo used please. Who am I to refuse?Onto the actual product: this is a very intense cocoa. It helped attain the deep color and flavor I was aiming for, without any bitter aftertaste. It really didn't seem much different than others I've used in texture-- and while it is a bit more pricey than the containers you find at the supermarket, it really elevates your baking to a higher level. Kiddo was supremely happy with their black velvet birthday cake. I will be using this again in other desserts.

Pictured is this black cocoa next to regular cocoa powder before I stir it into milk for hot chocolate.So far, I've made hot chocolate, brownies, chocolate mousse, chocolate cake, chocolate icing, and a chocolate trifle with this. I use 50 of this cocoa, and 50 ghiradelli cocoa powder for the cocoa powder in each recipe. I love how dark it makes my recipes! I love the taste and will continue experimenting with it! It makes me want to order more cocoas online and see what else is out there.This cocoa has a saltier flavor than others, so I reduced the salt a little in recipes I use it in.

Was curious and added about 3 tablespoons to a bowl of brownie brittle mix along with some unsweetened coconut and pecan pieces. What a chocolate taste!!! Delicious!

I'm don't bake often, but I do make sauces, syrups, marinade and rubs A LOT. I was given a cup to try by a commercial baker and I will never be without it!Use this in any recipe that needs a shot of deep dark slightly bitter mystery. A pinch in your rub with smoked salt, garlic whoa.

I used this to make Ovenly's black chocolate stout cake. It was delicious!!! The cocoa is very dark and is definitely more bitter than regular ones, but I enjoyed the flavor and the product was in perfect condition when it was delivered.
