I bought this cover mainly to cut down on evaporation (California drought). This is my second "bubble wrap" type cover. The first one, not sure where I got it, was great. Unfortunately after a few years it needed to be replaced because small plastic pieces were pealing off.

This new cover is problematic because it is not buoyant enough. We have a small waterfall, where water flows from our spa into the pool. I've cut a large radius in this cover so that the water flows directly into the pool without hitting the cover. However, even with a large radius, small splashes and ripples from the waterfall easily get on top of the cover and weigh it down. This causes even more water to get on top of the cover. And that might be accelerating the evaporation. In the attached photo you can (hopefully) see the cover is far from the waterfall but still slightly submerged by the turbulence.

So, if you live in an area that does not have issues with droughts, or if you don't have any water features that will splash or ripple your pool, this is probably a great option. It helps keep the pool warm, and it's easy to cut to shape with good scissors. Otherwise, try a different one.
