This little tool tamps freshly poured ready-mix concrete to (A) help fill the forms, and most importantly (B) push down the aggregate--the little stones--a little bit to bring the fines up to the surface. That makes troweling the concrete surface using a 12 inch steel float to a nice, smooth finish. This little tamping tool is good to use on small projects like narrow walkways. In no way would it be suitable for driveways and even longer sidewalks. I had considered just making one out of scrap expanded metal and angle iron. But this is much simpler and does the job.

Chose this item due to cost. It feels very light duty compared to a US made product. The grid opening is wider which I like but the grid wire is a bit flimsy. I can make it bow by hand. The weld points are minimal. I'd like it be connected better if possible. Pretty sure I'm still keeping it and will use it
