A little under 5/8" thick and it looks like it was cut with a dull blade; the edges are very unfinished. It literally looks like a byproduct from some other manufacturing process, repackaged, and sold as a "yoga mat".

The low price can excuse the cosmetic shortcomings listed above. What is not excusable is THE SMELL! The chemical smell coming off of this mat is nauseating. I haven't even been able to use the mat yet due to not being able to be in the same room with it. I'm not sure if the smell is coming from the mat itself, or from some other chemical used in the making of the mat that is still lingering. Currently, the mat is "off gassing" in a warm room with adequate ventilation. Previously it was in the garage, but the cold temps likely prevented any real smell dissipation. I'm hoping that after a few days at warmer temperatures the smell will subside. Otherwise, I'll reduce my rating to one star, roll the mat up, stuff it in a cardboard box, draw a target on the box, and use it as an archery target (seriously).

OK, I just knelt on it while holding my breath. It does feel nice and cushy and my knees didn't pack down the foam much at all. I sincerely hope the smell goes away though. Or not, since I do need a new archery target.
