This is my first mat that's been this thick, so I know it's going to take some getting used to. I ordered this because I'm now practicing in a space with hardwood floors and *do* have some joint issues. Yes, it's very soft and cushy. However, I think this actually compromises you where pressure and gravity are actually beneficial in certain poses. For example- in child's pose when having a little pressure on your forehead actually relaxes you. You're not going to get that with this mat. You'll need a block or something. Neither will you be able to splay your limbs out evenly in shavasana. Just stuff to keep in mind because it's so thick. The plus side is if your knees are sensitive- this mat is a dream. It rolls up pretty big. You can't use the strap for anything other than keeping it rolled and neat. I've also noticed it's not as sticky and slides when I try to hop on it. If I were to make this mat better, I'd fix that, 'cause that could be dangerous. Give it some texture on the underside and make the strap less flimsy. *shrug* I'll update my review after I've used it for a few months.
