The first time I cooked these, I had to pressure cook for hours to get soft. I thought my Instant Pot was broken and bought a new one. I cooked these for 20 minutes on high pressure yesterday in my new Instant pot. I used no salt, just water in cooking. They were cooked, but still a little bit crunchy. I understand split pulse should be very soft after 20 minutes of pressure cooking. I don't know if it is possible at some point along the supply chain if they were stored too long or if this is just how they are, in general.
