Use a wrench as the directions state and washers on both sides...This thing is not loose at all and I'm excited with the outcome and delivery

Thsi rack is well made but be careful when you put the dumbbells on the rack, as the holders are not wide enough and will definitely pinch your fingers or hand.

We have accumulated five sets of barbell weights over the years and finally decided to buy a rack to get them off the floor. This rack does the job. It is sturdy, solid and it stores conveniently. Yes, assembly is required and it does require an owner provided socket or crescent wrench. The instruction included are very clear and well written. And it took about 20 minutes to put it together. I highly recommend this rack!

This weight rack will stain neoprene dumbbells a nasty yellow-brown rust color. As other reviews stated, even a short time of 12 or so hours will stain the rubber of a neoprene weight. I've had these on for a bit over a week and you can see how it's visually ruined every dumbbell on it, even the dark green color has brown spots. This is very odd considering the rests on the rack itself are plastic, so some interaction with the rubber weights is doing something awful. It also smelled of grease, similar to motor oil or after you fix something on your car, and the odor lingered even two weeks after assembly. Also a bit of a hassle to put together, the legs of my rack didn't screw on straight but it was stable after heavily tightening. Save yourself the trouble and do not buy or use.

I've had a good experience with dumbbells by CAP. I have some 40,30,.25,20,15, and 10 Lb weights. This dumbbell stand doesn't support the 40,30, or 25 Lb weights well. They just don't fit. Also, when placing the weights onto the stand it's easy for you to get your hand caught between the stand and the weight itself. I do not recommend.

It's sketchy if you got big hands, you gotta really concentrate after you're sets when racking trying not pinch you're hands.

There was a hole in the baggie that held the screws and other parts for assembly. I was afraid that parts would be missing, but fortunately everything was there, although strewn around the box. The stand it's is great. Just make sure you use a tool on both sides as you screw nuts and bolts together.

Note that this is rack only. I am very happy with this rack. Tools are required for assembly but it is otherwise easy to assemble. Tools are not included. I used a combination of a hex key and a wrench. As someone with tools, I personally prefer items that use standard nuts and bolts rather than proprietary connectors. After assembling, the rack feels very solid. With dumbbells on it, it feels even more solid. I have no concerns of it falling over or falling down. My only complaint is that the rubber pieces don't stay on when taking out the bigger dumbbells. I am going to crazy glue them on.

Putting this together was relatively straightforward and easy - The socketwrench I had couldn't fit on the inside of the upper/top plate so I used an adjustable wrench to hold the nut and the allen key to tighten the allen bolts. My biggest issue with this is the (lack of) stability. The base is not even or level so the entire thing wobbles slightly like a restaurant table that needs a coaster folded up to shim on of the feet. This concerns me in terms of having the thing topple over so I'm going to have to figure out a secure way to stabilize it. In hindsight, I probably should have spent a little more money on a rack that was more stable. But it's just to hold the dumbbells that used to lie on the floor of my home gym so... /shrug

I was missing 2 nut bolts for it to be completely stable. I made it work though. It's ok for now. At least it will keep my weights all in one place for now.

Love this, it's perfect for what I needed! I had a hard time finding something for 5 sets of dumbbells but this does the job! Assembly was easy and quick. Love the look and the space it saves me.

Does the job. Bought (2) to give more space between weights when removing and putting back.

There are a thousand of this same product out there and I'm sure they all have similar strengths and weaknesses. I didn't have a need for something of high-end gym quality, I just needed a compact place to put my dumbbells. And for the price I paid at the time (well under $50), this was a total steal.THE GOOD:There are rubber coverings on all the little cutouts, so the grips of your dumbbells won't get marred or have any coating scraped off. It's also very easy to assemble.ASSEMBLY TIP: I'd recommend assembling it entirely with only finger-tightness before completely cranking down the bolts.THE BAD:Because it's mass-produced and self-assembled and has four contact points with the ground, it's almost certainly going to rock a little bit.TIP: In my case, I did a little loosening and re-tightening of strategically-chosen bolts to get it almost perfect, and then any minor leftover rocking went away as soon as I loaded it down with weights. This has cleaned up my workout area and does what it's made for, at a completely reasonable price. I would buy this again at the price I paid, without question.
