There does not seem to be a single card shuffler that gets consistent rave reviews. It seems the nature of these things is that cards get jammed, or cheap plastic components break. But this inexpensive little manual-crank model gets consistently mentioned among the more reliable performers, so I gave it a shot. What can I say? It perfectly handles two decks, and shuffled them well with no jamming so far. It couldn't be easier to use, and as others have pointed out, it's a lot quieter, simpler, and lower maintenance than battery powered models. In my house, we play a lot of poker, but also card games like Ticket To Ride that have huge decks requiring tons of repeated shuffling during the game. The cards wear out pretty fast when you've got an amateur manually shuffling them over and over. This device will not only speed up game play, it will also dramatically extend the life of the cards. No bending, no jamming cards into each other. I wish I'd bought this a long time ago.
