Causes: Mental Health

Mission: The journey to mental health is a challenging road for patients and their supporting families alike. Enduring the pain. The struggle to find answers. The weight of this journey should not be endured alone. Like a dragonfly’s flight is light and adaptable, the mission and vision of The Connie J Klanica Foundation is to alleviate the burden and offer support to those in need. The Foundation is a not for profit organization built to create positive change and hope in the darkest of times through advocating awareness, supporting patients and their families undergoing treatment and raising funds for research. The Foundation was established to continue on the selfless and loving nature of our beloved Connie J Klanica. Connie taught us all to give selflessly, love unconditionally and to help without question. Her graceful spirit is the guiding light for change by which this Foundation will work to support the journey from awareness to well being.

Results: The CJK Classic Spikeball Tournament was held in May 2022 to raise awareness and funds. The You Are My Sunshine sunflower event was held in September 2019 to raise awareness and funds and the Farms Country Club Charity golf tournament was held in June 2019 for the same purposes. Funds have been used to sponsor a Youth Mental Health First Aid course so that it was free to participants in Cheshire. Additionally, funds were given directly to a family to help take a family member out of crisis and help cover living expenses while the family member was unable to work due to their diagnosis. Another family's co-pays were covered so that they could attend therapy appointments and funds were used at the Yale Research Clinic so that interns could attend continuing education classes to increase their knowledge and expertise. CJKF was a community sponsor for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention Out of Darkness Walk to help provide courses and education on suicide prevention.
