Can not charge LED panels other than from 8 D cell batteries, depleting expensive D cell batteries rapidly.

I bought these lanterns for our adult grandsons for Christmas. We have an older model that has 4 take out lights. It has been great. They take a lot of batteries but we have had ours for several years and batteries are still good. Nice latern to have for a family for emergency outage. Each can have their own light to carry. The new style has an added feature with the option to charge a phone. I have bought several of the older style for presents in the past. Good investment.

I purchased this as a Christmas gift. I have one that I had purchased a couple years ago with the four panels. I love the panels come off to be used as a flashlight during an emergency like out. The light is bright and lights the whole room.

This is a great light. We've used it for power outages, and it will light up the whole living room, and also allow someone to take a segment to go into another room when needed. We've also used it for outdoor dining in the evening, and with the light placed in the center of the table, everyone could see without any trouble at all. It is a great light for all sorts of purposes. The small light segments give off quite a bit of light alone, and the main unit gives off a lot of light without being blinding.Just be prepared for the battery use. It requires I believe 8 D batteries plus a slew of AA's for the smaller lights. But considering the setup and the amount of light it puts out, it is understandable. But you may want to order batteries in bulk along with the light.

It is perfect when dry camping need to have a light at campsite when you also need to have a light to help find your way in the dark!4 individual lights with various brightness!

I leave the batteries out until a storm is coming and I put them in and I can have a complete power outage and still read and give several other people parts of it to go in other rooms. Fabulous. I can also charge my phone on it.

Great lights! The detachable sides are very nice when having to go to the bathroom or look for the smores. Took to yellowstone and went into the backwoods. Worked great!

This is a good lantern the only problem is you're using D batteries to charge the AAA batteries in the snap off lights. I remove the AAA batteries from the lights and just charge them with my battery charger. This seems to work pretty well and doesn't drain the D batteries as much

This is a great lantern I purchased this one as a gift. I do own the lantern myself. I totally love it. The lights are bright and I totally love the fact that I can separate the light panels on the lantern so you have four separate individual lights, the base of the lantern lights up as well. This is a great lantern it's a wonderful gift for someone as well as having one for yourself.

This is an awesome multi-purpose lantern......but after packing 2 of these away for emergency, we found out 15 months later that packing them away with the 8 D batteries in it totally drains all the batteries as it recharges the panel lights. They were filled with 8D Energizer batteries with a 10 year shelf life :/ From now on, the batteries will be stored next to the lantern so we will have light when needed.

Very cool product. Very handy to have when going camping or fishing at night whether it's just you by yourself or a small group of people. Lights up very well and has detachable lights. Downside is you need lots of batteries because it isn't rechargeable. You not only need size D batteries, you also need triple A batteries.

I loaned the lantern to a friend who set out on a 2 month cross country trip. I still have one of the original Coleman 4 light lanterns. The new design is a big improvement. I like the way the individual lights attach with a magnet. Also appreciated the charging port for electronic devices. So far so good!
