I had an older model that we used all the time camping and was my go to lantern. This is the updated version and it has been working just as well if not better. the individual lights are definitely brighter then older model and have adjustment to light choice which is new. on, brighter, flash light at top.The full price was hard for me to swallow so I kept a watch on it. When it dropped I bought and I am content with value vs product

They don't give you the big D Cell batteries you need with this one but you do get the smaller AA rechargeable batteries included in the removable side panels. I like carrying it around as I go up and down dark stairwells. The USB plug-in phone charger works too. Overall, if you have a bunch of rechargeable D cell batteries sitting around (as I did) this lantern is a good way to get some use out of them.The side panels can come off pretty easily if you are running through the forest trying to escape wolves and bears in the dead of night, i.e. bumping the lantern around. So, I find that wrapping it in Saran Wrap while I am carrying it outdoors as a single unit helps... Not because the panels just fly off willy-nilly but rather because the fear of the panels flying off willy-nilly makes me overly cautious as I carry the lantern if I don't have it saran wrapped.

I'm finding that the 4 removable small lights have now lost all their charge and do not stay on anymore when away from the main unit. They work when connected. Do I need new batteries? The main light still works and has charge, but the 4 small ones don't. Anyone else have this problem?

I love the brightness and especially like that two panels can be removed to use separately. Also, I like that it can charge a cell phone.

There is nothing in the description that tells you that you need D batteries to charge this. What is the point of this if you need D batteries to charge LED panels. I am returning this item.

This was the best thing for our last camping trip. No more flashlights for each kid. They can just take one of the panels and put it back when they are done. Amazing...should of bought more for holiday gifts.

So many things to love about this! The removable light panels can be propped up, pinned up via a magnet, carried with ease due to the slight handle that pops out. While you are able to take the panels out to wander, the base has more than enough light on its own to still be effective without the side panels installed. Oh - each panel has has a light on its end that can act like a flashlight. Too awesome! Of course all panels and the base have multiple light settings. ONLY down side is that it takes 8x D batteries. This can add to the weight of it, but as the base is more likely to stay still (as a base), I don't think this is a real factor. Highly recommend for any camping trip or even just to have in your car/house. It would be excellent to provide light for a family during a power outage.

Just what I was looking for as a family light source for emergencies. I (luckily) haven't had to use it for that but I've tested it out and it's well made and easy to use. Really smart design.

Great product and concept and from a company you can trust. I use rechargeable batteries in mine but still last a very long time.

I like that they're very portable and light and can be recharged. Bought for when the power goes out.

Removable lamps are super for campers to go in different locations. The remaining lantern lights keep the tent out of total darkness when all the individual lights are removed.

Bought this as a gift for an RV camper friend and it works great! Easy to use and well built. I would recommend to others.
