I couldn't decide between a 5 star and 4 star rating. Realistically, I think they're more of a 4.5. Let this be clear: these gloves will not tear from normal bites. It doesn't mean you won't feel the bites, but the gloves, themselves, won't be bitten through by normal jaw force. I specify normal jaw force because gnawing will make a hole eventually. I know because I have a 4 months old German shepherd puppy with whom I use these to play. The reason I give these a 4.5 and not a 5 is because a good bite will hurt like hell, and knowing she's only 4 months and that her bite force is probably not 1/4th of what it will be when she's an adult, I know these probably won't be feasible to play with in a year unless I want some broken fingers. While the bites hurt, the gloves, themselves are really sturdy and I have absolutely no fear that they will rip or tear. She has, however, gnawed a hole in one of the gloves. I don't hold that against the gloves in the slightest, as I believe that is user error. I let her teeth in the gloves and she eventually make a small hole in one. Holding this against the gloves is like judging wood's durability because a saw can cut through it. If you punch wood it'll probably break your hand, but if you use a saw you can get through it fairly easily.Summary: These gloves are good for handling small animals, not for large ones. If you have a cat or puppy under 25 pounds, these will be one of the greatest things you can buy. Anything over that, your skin will be fine, but prepare to feel the thunder.
