Comfortable and tough. My crazy kitty wasn't able to break through these layers during transportation. Saved me a lot of scratches and bruises.

I purchased this for emergency use with a troubled foster pet. I haven't been nailed while wearing them, but they definitely look like they can reduce damage. They're fully lined from the cuff through the fingers, but allow passable dexterity. Greater thickness (and so more damage resistance) than the comparably priced competitors. The lining feels smooth without lumpy seams.I'm a medium woman, these gloves are large for me, but still functional. If you're neither super-petite nor a linebacker, these should fit.Two tiny criticisms, first, they're suede which means they will be harder to clean than leather. Second, they smelled very strongly of freshly tanned suede when out of the package. I'd recommend letting them offgas in a garage or well ventilated area before storing them near sensitive humans or birds. Still the best I've found for economy gloves. Recommended.

I bought these for clearing out blackberry bushes behind my house. I had never found a pair of gloves that were blackberry proof- the thorns always got through. Not these. I could pull the blackberries out by the roots and they never got me. Love these gloves.

My friend uses it for rescued animals and so far it offers decent protection from squirrels and possums. Not sure if otters can bite trough it but it should mitigate the damage if they do. No word on vipers but I don't want to be the one to find out. For the money they offer good protection but they are clumsy in use due to thickness. I don't know if they will loosen up with use.

I couldn't decide between a 5 star and 4 star rating. Realistically, I think they're more of a 4.5. Let this be clear: these gloves will not tear from normal bites. It doesn't mean you won't feel the bites, but the gloves, themselves, won't be bitten through by normal jaw force. I specify normal jaw force because gnawing will make a hole eventually. I know because I have a 4 months old German shepherd puppy with whom I use these to play. The reason I give these a 4.5 and not a 5 is because a good bite will hurt like hell, and knowing she's only 4 months and that her bite force is probably not 1/4th of what it will be when she's an adult, I know these probably won't be feasible to play with in a year unless I want some broken fingers. While the bites hurt, the gloves, themselves are really sturdy and I have absolutely no fear that they will rip or tear. She has, however, gnawed a hole in one of the gloves. I don't hold that against the gloves in the slightest, as I believe that is user error. I let her teeth in the gloves and she eventually make a small hole in one. Holding this against the gloves is like judging wood's durability because a saw can cut through it. If you punch wood it'll probably break your hand, but if you use a saw you can get through it fairly easily.Summary: These gloves are good for handling small animals, not for large ones. If you have a cat or puppy under 25 pounds, these will be one of the greatest things you can buy. Anything over that, your skin will be fine, but prepare to feel the thunder.

Tested these out on my pug who hates getting his nails clipped. He's a biter and bites hard (weighs about 24lbs). You can still feel the pressure of the bite and therefore could still get sore, but no chance of skin piercing or puncture so I consider that a success.
