Mission: Canine Assisted Therapy, Inc. ’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of children and adults by achieving specific physical, cognitive, social, or emotional goals through the use of certified pet therapy teams.

Results: In 2019 C. A. T. was a finalist in the Greater Ft Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce non-profit small business award. In addition, the organization received a Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency, as well as Proclamations from the cities of Ft. Lauderdale, Wilton Manors, and Oakland Park for providing bite prevention education in the communities. October 25,2019 was named Canine Assisted Therapy Day by the Broward County Board of Commissioners in honor of the organization's 10 year anniversary.

Target demographics: Individuals with special needs, pediatric patients, isolated seniors, Veterans, at-risk youth, hospice patients and families, vicitms of violence or trauma, and many others

Direct beneficiaries per year: Over 44,000 individuals in Florida

Geographic areas served: South Florida hospitals, shelters, schools, special needs facilities, nursing homes, hospice, treatment centers , courthouses, etc.

Programs: Our Read-a-thon program in schools serves children that have been identified as "at risk" or reading below grade level. Therapy dogs sit with children each week to listen to books read aloud which gives the children a chance to practice their literacy skills. The Performing Canine Magic Program provides therapeutic goals and interventions for veterans with PTSD, individuals with traumatic brain injuries or Cerebral Palsy, physical and occupational therapy patients and children on the autism spectrum. Animal Assisted Activities Teams help the elderly in assisted care facilities or senior care centers relieve loneliness and anxiety by interacting with the dogs. Therapy dogs also interact with Alzheimer’s patients. Bite Prevention Program educates children about the safe and appropriate way to interact with dogs. TeleDog Program provides pet therapy visits virtually.
