Mission: To provide personalized education so adults can transform their lives and contribute to a stronger community.

Results: For 35 years, CFLC has recruited, trained, and certified approximately 2,000 volunteer tutors. These tutors, in turn, have donated hundreds of thousands of hours to help thousands of adult learners throughout the Cape Fear region. In 2019, CFLC served nearly 500 students in our community.

Target demographics: Our services are FREE to adults - ages 18 and older - in the Cape Fear/New Hanover County region. We also provide tutoring assistance to young adults age 16 and older who are currently enrolled in a GED program.

Programs: Our two programs - Adult Literacy and English as a Second Language (ESL) - provide one-on-one tutoring, small class sessions, and specialized readiness workshops that focus on employment skills and/or United States citizenship.
