We have a variety of exercise mats on our laminate flooring. Most are very thin, mostly to protect the floor from the elliptical, stationary bike, trainer and weights. But I wanted a thicker mat for jump rope. This fits the bill. It's much thicker than I expected, and excellent at both reducing shock and reducing noise. And it's nicely finished, with bevelled edges. Definitely a good value. The only flaws are that after a month it still curls in at the edges from being rolled up when manufactured/shipped, and the bottom is very slippery. No aerobics on this one! I mean so slippery that if you have one foot and all your weight in the middle, and with the other foot do a "back-tap-back-tap" combo, the mat will pivot! And this is on textured laminate, hardly a slippery material! But for jumprope, yoga, sit-ups, push-ups and so on, it's perfect.
