A solidly constructed shelf, This shelf does not require to be attached to the back of the rack. This is convenient if your equipment that is destined for the shelf has a smaller profile. Good value for the money.

I know this is an expensive 2u shelf, but at 22 deep this thing is so sturdy and well built I couldnt have asked for better. There is no flex at all and its fully supported. Star tech products are expensive. But they do a good job at making stuff.

Startech rack shelves do not come with standard rack screws. You are on your own for that.

It's very sturdy as a standalone 2U shelf. The upper holes don't extend as high as a normal 2U unit which seems fine.

I have several of these --- they are perfect for open rack telecom shelves in our branch offices and outlying buildings.I have one at home and have two Synology 4-drive NASes sitting on it. It does sag a bit in the middle, but it's still a really nice shelf.

I ordered a second StarTech shelf and they are both very high quality and sturdy. Spend the extra money and get good merchandise. Note: The enclosed screws are for industrial racks and are too big for typical 19 inch audio racks.

To my surprise, this shelf item is far stronger than I expected. It actually meets the description of heavy duty. I bought it to put my synology diskstation in the rack cabinet along with other misc computer hardware that has caused me to look at wires for the past (forever) years! For $35, I am very pleased with the selection. Cage nuts and bolts included, too. StarTech continues to impress

The rating is for 50lbs but when I put in around 50lbs on it, the shelf does not look like it's going to hold. It's slating down on the back so much that I had to put something underneath it.

I purchased 2 and then 4 more because they work so well. I use them with trueCABLE metal shielded cat6a tool-less keystone jacks as well as the plastic trueCABLE cat6 keystone jacks. The strain relief works well and the keystones have very tight attachment to the front panel.
