Mission: The High School Acting Studio at the Cincinnati Actor's Studio & Academy is a unique non-profit organization that has been in existence since 2007, and we are always "creating dialogue to create change. "OUR MISSION STATEMENT: Studio is professional, process oriented training that encourages students to dig a little deeper and discover HOW to think, not WHAT to think by focusing on knowledge of self, material, and the future; whether or not the student plans on pursuing a career in the performing arts. What separates us from ALL of the other performing programs in our tri-state area is our objective to use the performing arts as a tool to find peace, create social justice, discover basic values, and build a creative life.

Results: We are not just another theatre program trying to create the next star. We serve as a place for teens to transition into people that will succeed in college since they are provided the tools to function emotionally in this unstable world. Frankly, the ultimate goal of "Studio" is to help teens grow as a human and find out who they truly are! Via the theatre arts, we have helped the future lawyers learn how to stand in a courtroom with confidence and speak their minds. We have taught the future investigators how to read body language and interpret vocal patterns. We have prepared the marketing majors with the skill of detailed researching and the backbone to present their visions. Most importantly, we have helped teens find a way to dialogue with their families. (Although, we do have a few students on Hulu, Netflix, and running their own production companies in LA and NYC as well. )Saad Ghosen, MD from the UC College of Medicine states, "The arts involve the entire individual. It integrates intellect, emotions, intuition, imagination, memory, physical sense, will and desires. Studies show that art increases empathy, tolerance, and feelings of love. Art-related brain changes make the individual freer, more receptive, less inhibited, and less prejudiced. " With each production Cincinnati Actor's Studio & Academy raises money to donate to OTHER non-profit organizations in our city that seem to fit a theme in our show. Over the years, we have donated to organizations such as Human Rights Campaign, Women Helping Women, Lighthouse Youth Services, SPCA, and Donate Life. Doing this helps our students understand that performing is not all about them. This donation process has given the students a concrete way to put into practice empathy and creating change. Graduates often call us a "HUMAN program, not a THEATRE program. " Parents say, "We are so thankful for Studio in her life. It has gotten her to love herself!" More students have said, "I found that even though I am not majoring in acting, studio has helped me in everyday life. " "Your loving support when I was in high school truly saved my life. ""I look back at all the events that affected my character, and find comfort in knowing you were there every step of the way. You supported me like no one else could. You didn’t have to either. We are not blood bound, nor are we lifelong friends who still felt that obligation, yet you cared so much about me, about my life and its happenings that I wanted to care about my life too. I will make a difference because of you. "We are unique because we know we are creating humans that will create dialogue and create change!
