Unlike the normal high speed steel drill bits, even the titanium coated ones, these cobalt bits will go through lots of holes, even in heavier gage steel like z-channels and the like. The other bits go dull after just a few holes.

I followed all the instruction. Slow speed, cutting lubricant, etc. would not drill into a stainless steel screw head at all. Was hoping to use it with a screw extractor that required a bit of a hole in the head. No dice.

These bits are tough and this is what is needed to drill a hole in hard metal like stainless steel..

I use this to drill pin holes in 1095 carbon steel. I haven't tried drilling through anything hardened but it does fantastic if the steel is annealed!

This bit wanted no part of hard steel and I had to but a different bit, it will not have any problem with standard mettle, just not made for super hard steel.

This amateur has a “to do list” most Saturdays. I was facing a small project around the house and in need of a metal penetrating drill bit. BOSCH assured me that the little cobalt drill bit would help me cut through semi-soft metal. Saturday Success! Found the bit to do just as promised by BOSCH and, happily discovered their small bit survived this one project as a metal penetrating drill bit to come to my aide, if needed, for tending to potential small projects that could make my “to do list” for some other Saturday.
