My car has a sunglasses compartment above my head near the windshield. When the rays of the direct summer sun beat down on the roof, the sunglasses become too hot to hold.I cut out a piece of this heat shield to conform to the shape of the top of the compartment and stuck it in. Mind you, the reflective surface is facing down, when it would make more sense for it to face up to the heat source, but that's the only way that I could stick it into the compartment. Nevertheless, it is effective in blocking much of the heat, and my sunglasses are just lukewarm to the touch.
