I've had a Coleman 12 x 12 canopy for the better part of six years. Sure, it's heavy and bulky compared to cheaper canopies, but it was worth it. We took that thing everywhere, but mostly to the beach and mostly in Mexico. It was our go to beach canopy and showed signs of wear over its use with small pin prick holes and some minor rust on the lower parts of the legs. The canvas bag gave out around year 4 and the wheels came off. Around year 5, the handles/straps broke. But the canopy kept on going. It wasn't until an early summer camping trip to Diaz Lake that a 60mph gust shredded the fabric and tore apart the frame. The legs that were staked into the ground held and the guy lines held, but the cross bars and fabric just couldn't handle it.I got a cheap Walmart canopy for $39.00 but wasn't impressed. The guy lines snapped in only moderate winds (lt;5mph), and the fabric is really thin. I mean, it's a good take anywhere canopy that is light and easy to set up, but I don't see it lasting more than a season. So, after doing some research, I decided NOT to go with an Ozark 12x12 straight leg canopy due to the thin legs and thin material. Instead, I bit the bullet and paid more to get quality and durability.I hope this canopy can make 6 years and we look forward to more adventures in the sun... Just with a little 13x13 shade please.
